Can the 360 really be classified as next gen? It doesnt really have any new features, no upgrades, you gottta spew out an extra 200 bucks to play certain XBOX titles, and loads of other evil crap Gates thought up to make extra money. So I've been wondering since its release, can it really be called Next Gen? All I see is what Nintendos been doin to the GBA since it came out.
The next generation doesn't have to be different. The PS2 wasn't really any different to the PS1, appart from hardware specs (and the ability to play CDs was replaced with DVDs).
There are a lot of power gamers out there, so it makes sense that one of the consoles would focus on raw power alone.
Another person who hates Bill Gates. How surprising.

It has a significant graphics upgrade. That's enough to classify it as next gen. :|
Graphics are way better, take a look for yourself.

Who cares about graphics? If I cared about graphics I would have never had played the orginal Nintendo or still play it to this day.

You know what was next gen? The Sega Dreamcast, that was truley NextGen. It looked good, it played good and some of the games were great. It was a wonderful Arcade-Port based machine that still had some awesome orginal titles.

I miss Sega Hardware. :(

Are they even the same Far Cry? 360 version says Far Cry Instinicts and the other one doesn't. I'm just wondering..

No, it is an older version, but they aren't that far in date. And with the PC you can out-due the graphics most of the time, depends on the company and how much money they have. It also depends on your graphics card, but yeah, that's common sense.

If they were the same exact game, then I'd be convinced.. Otherwise, its a bit one sided where the 360 would clearly win..

Heh, couldn't resist. All kidding aside, I think the dreamcast was a great console. I'm still acquiring games for mine, which was bought on accident because I dropped the damned thing in front of the guy selling it. Plus it's easy to emulate SNES games and play them. Do you know if it's possible to emulate any other type of game?

Yeah Nes, Snes, Sega, Gameboy, Some PS1 titles and possibly GBA. Also mame.

A number of 360 ports are supposed to totally suck. I heard very bad reviews about Quake 4 and Gun for the 360.

I am a very hard game reviewer, I heardly compliment any games, but I do have Quake 4 for the X-Box 360 and I have to say...this game is awesome! I think they did a very good job with it. I did not really like the other Quakes before this one, but this one is like a whole new game. Try it out.

Yep I love my Dreamcast..I was playing Shenmue two days ago..I need to go ahead and buy up some more games before they aren't being sold anymore...

Shenmue I & II FTW!

Shenmue II was the only reason i got a Xbox(And Kotor) and it was awesome except for the fact that you didn't get to face Lan Di at the end(Which makes me wonder why there isn't a third one coming out).

Dreamcast was pretty damn good, too bad it's still not around.

Your average gamer goes on and on about the hardware power, graphics quality and similar things now, but they don't seem to realise that by ignoring Sega's products for a couple game-system generations and putting them out of the console business hurt that very aspect of the industry. Sega was the major game company with the best setup, but then they also didn't cut back on the gameplay.

Axing Sega was the worst thing that could be done for the game industry. If Sega had a fault, it was that they stayed so far ahead of the curve that some of their stuff was too expensive. Of course, now they turn around and pay Sony whatever is asked. I'll never understand people.

As for the question: yes. Would I cease to be the next generation after my parents just because my generation didn't advance technology? Another generation just means it's the next in line, whether for better or for worse. However, since newer generations of video game systems are supposed to be more powerful and/or bring interesting designs and concepts to the system, the question "Is it worthy of being part of the next gen?" would be a valid question.

Sorry I played all the Quakes except for the 4th one and none of them impressed me. If Quake 4 is avaible for PC I might pirate it, but there is no way I am going to buy it, or even rent a Xbox 360 to try it.

Out of all the systems of that console generation, the Sega Saturn was the one I wanted the most. Sega had always impressed me by including all the little features that you end up saying "I wish this did or had..." about. For instance, the Genesis had the headphone port, which I got plenty of use out of (not only did it make the gaming more barable for my parents at the time, but it sounded better than a TV speaker), and the Sega Nomad handheld system had a port to put a Genesis controller into it for two-player use and also had TV output so you could still hook it up to the big screen if you were just chilling in your home.

I always wanted to get all their systems, as they were all so cool, but I only ever was able to get the Genesis, though even that was given to me as a present rather than bought. Though, now that I am older and have a job I also have a Dreamcast. The Dreamcast is fun, though it seems that by that point the recent ignoring it got from most gamers seemed to have screwed them over so that they couldn't put out something with their usual spice.
