Well, I don't have a DS, so to not feel left out, I downloaded the Mario Kart 64 ROM + Project 64k(A n64 emulator with Multiplayer support).
It's very simple to use, depending on how many people would be interested in playing, I will give links, and more info.

Is it possible to play with a dial up internet connection? Otherwise I'd join considering I already have the rom and emulator.

The kaillera program works with every emulator i believe right now, if anyone still likes the snes final fantasy games that support the multiplayer option, I wouldn't mind playing.

Xbox emulators support 4 controllers and online play. To do online play you have to have the same setup as Xbox Connect, but instead you use a port mapper on your pc. The emulators arn't as buggy because all development is on the one system.

N64s had the ability to network with eachother. The emulators just port that over the internet. Also, sometimes I have seen them basicly pass control inputs though a network, so basicly you get normal 2 player split screen, but on two systems.

Actualy, that would not be true, because * includes N64. Now Mario Kart 64 on N64>=* would work.

You can't play with someone on the other side of the continent with a regular old N64.

SuperAntx: While you cant play online with the N64, you sure as hell cant beat the authentic feeling. |

Authentic feeling? The xbox has four controller ports, I don't get what you mean.

The feeling of the N64's control in your hand, looking over and seeing the N64 running, the lack of the xbox's noise. etc.

Using a rom means it isn't reading anything off a noisy disk drive. All you hear is a fan but that's almost silent. I always hated the N64 controller. The Xbox controller has enough buttons, joysticks and d-pads to emulate a N64 controller anyway. Unless you have a usb/N64 pad converter for your pc, it's far superior to a keyboard.

I find the xbox controller to be not precise enough when handling n64 roms.

Good luck though, sounds like fun. >.>
