I, myself, am waiting for GoogleNation, and GoogleTotalitarianism to burst free from the internet and take over our daily lives.

I could go for a GoogleBurger right now.

We should have a Google Day, where we must include Google in every one of our posts :P

Has Google released any info about the GOS?
In response to Thorg
I'd allow Google to take over the planet. =)
I just started with a clean install of Windows Vista Beta 2, it boots up in under 10 seconds, on only 2gb free hard drive space out of 170gb, I have found numerous new fetures, very many improvements, no problems with any drivers, only problem with it, BYOND crashes every time I try to open it <_<

Once it is publically available, we'll playtest BYOND with vista and iron out the bugs.

Eye, many thanks for that, it just confuses me what may be causing it, its othously not a standard error because none of the compatability options correct it.

Well, it might be a bug in Vista. Which is not altogether surprising, as Vista is still in beta. =)

Quite possible, I was expecting problems, but everything else appears to be working fine, I'm not bothered about waiting, I made preperations for it not working correctly, I can just multi-boot to windows xp.

Nothing that I've heard but then again, I'm not that up-to-date with News. I didnt even know they were making a Google OS, that shows how much I know.

Back to the topic at hand:

Vista(while an incredibly STUPID name) does look pritty damn nice. Hopefully, the 30% CPU usage thing doesn't come true. That would totally suck ass. Tho, Windows XP takes 10% while idle, which is aggrivating. At most, a GOOD OS should take only 1-5%, not 10% and DEFINALTY NOT 30%. 10% is deal-with-able, but it's still outrageous... No matter, if Vista is to come out soon, I'd be surprized so why are we even talking about CPU usage and stuff? They will probably get to like Beta 5 before they officially release it.

Firstly, the most logical reason why companies do a yearly/monthly fee is because
A) Their company is BASED off it (Porn sites (Just an example))
B) They are in SERIOUS Debt and need the money (Probably Blizzard is a good example.)
C) They are a very stupid company.

Microsoft is so full of money, doing a yearly fee would DESTROY them. Especially with everyone becoming more of a Computer Geek, the second they do that, Everyone would
A) Stay on an Old Windows Version
B) Go to Linux or Mac or another OS.
With all the new OS Competition, Microsoft would royally screw themselves over, and thats what will stop them from doing that.

BYOND will stay free, as far as just about anyone knows.

THOUGH, in 4.0 they COULD add extremely handy and nice features to BYOND when they release it to tempt everyone that can become a Member to do so.

I thought they did fees for stuff like server costs, in online games.

Yeah, MMORPGs require a constant cash flow to be maintained. There are servers to look after and purchase and staff to pay.

Of course, Blizzard is also just milking the World of Warcraft cow for all the money it's worth. Can you really blame them? =)

Uh, am I the only one who thinks that's the stupidest thing they could ever do? Like someone else said, people would never switch from XP.

And BYOND 4.0 only for members? I doubt it. Some of it's features only for members? Maybe, but never the entire thing (Other than beta, which i don't know).
