Are there any good free screenshot programs? My school uses Mr. Snappy, which is okay. (We have good reason to need screnshots) I don't know, however, if that one's free.

If you use WindowsXP, just hit PrintScreen and it will capture the whole screen.

Otherwise, I would recomend SnagIt.

I need to save the screen as an image file. I know that PrintScreen prints the screen. About SnagIt: is there a website?

Press PrintScrn and paste it to an image editor, it simply copies the screen image to your clipboard.

Yeah, that's what I do. I used to paste in MS Paint. But recently I've been using PaintShop.

Can you use SnagIt to capture a screenshot of movie If you use PrtSc there, you just capture a whole black screen

Actually, depending on the player, you can use Print Screen to get a capture...

For instance, Real Player will only give you the black image until you go into RP's preferences and turn off video acceleration... In the older versions, this is done by unchecking a box next to something like "Enable Hardware Acceleration" (or something like that)... In the newer versions, there's a slider udner "Hardware" that controls Video Card Compatibility... Turn it all the way to the lowest setting, and you will then be able to capture from Real Player...

The same might apply to most media players...

Also, if you just want a certain program, hit alt+PrintScreen. (It takes a screenshoot of just the active window, extremly useful.)

Nothing. If you can play it on a computer, you can copy it. After all, you could look at the act of "playing" a movie as just copying the video data from a file/DVD/whatever to the monitor.

Well, there are no technical reasons, anyway. There are obvious legal issues. =P
