Hi, all. I just wanted to drop a note to the forums that Friday night I proposed to my girlfriend, and she said yes. So now I have a fiancée!
Interestingly, I wanted to make sure I spelled that right so I looked it up at dictionary.com. (And to digress a moment: whoever gave FlashPlayer the ability to pop open new windows should be drug out into the street and shot.) It turns out that the spelling of this word matters. Fiancé is the male form, and fiancée is the female form. This is not unlike the oft-abused blond and blonde, or the much lesser known brunet and brunette.
Okay, so that sort of thing is probably only interesting to me--and my fiancée.

Congratulations. Feel free to invite your fellow byond members..XD

Congrats, man... My wife and I have been married one month as of 5 days ago, after a year and a half engagement, which came after around 7 and a half years of being a couple...
Good luck! |
Actually, it's interesting to me. :P I make a point to (almost always) use fianc(my laptop keyboard has no number pad and I haven't figured out how to do international characters otherwise on it and I don't feel like copying and pasting the one from your message)e or fianc(my laptop keyboard has no number pad and I haven't figured out how to do international characters otherwise on it and I don't feel like copying and pasting the one from your message), as appropriate... ditto for blonde or blond. I've actually ran into issues with my proofreader and my writing partner trying to correct me when I refer to a guy as a blond. :P I've never felt the need to use brunet in a sentence, though I was aware of its existence.
Oh, and congratulations. |

The é character I simply display as an HTML entity in posts like this one: é.

And some of us do care about the nitty-gritty details of English, so no worries there. =) |
Wow, Lummox. :(
Great to hear that you will get married in the future. I hope you will be able to stay with us for ever on chatters. :) I didn't even know you had a girlfriend, not that i asked. o.o Good luck! |

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of LordJR there.
Congratulations Lummox! |
Congratulations!
I hope? Marriage is more difficult then coding... so, I hope for you that you figure out the answers and logic involved in a happy marriage! I am never getting married, so you'll have to make up for the both of us :) :P |
Congrats, man. I guess all that practice arguing about grammar in JRC paid off. *grins*
More seriously, I wish you two a happy life together! On a totally unrelated note (I feel bad, whenever I try to talk to you I'm always asking you about this . . .), would you be able to poke the JRC server up again? The machine seems to be online, but it's not responding to connection requests. I'm sorry to have to bother you here, but the only email I have never seems to get through, and other methods seem more intrusive - I looked into commenting on your BYOND blog, but as you've got the "only subscribers can comment" option on, that's not possible for me. Thanks in advance - we do all appreciate it being there for the CC. As you can see, it's still well-used! Since I'm here . . . you might also find this post of interest; I remember you making that post about CL a while back on Pyrojection, and this post reveals a few of the mysterious details (which turn out not to be all that mysterious, just unrevealed) about how things got to be the way they are now. Ironically, the vision for the better AI - or rather, the expensive attempts to make that vision into a reality - turns out to be one of the main reasons they didn't have sufficient funds to weather the crisis which led them and others to liquidation, like a lot of the other game studios in the area. Oh well. Perhaps Gameware'll have better luck with BAMZOOKi as a platform, adding Alife features incrementally. We'll see. Again, best wishes for you both. :-) |
Congratulations! =)
That's a pretty common pattern in french (the extra "e" in the feminine form). |
