If Batman's car broke down then he would just use his various grappling hooks and gadgets to get around. Just because he doesn't have natural super powers doesn't mean he will automatically lose. I personally think Batman would win, since he is a more experienced fighter, and his gadgets are what give him a variety of ablities over Spiderman. Spiderman is just a kid with extraordinary physical prowress, Batman is a grown man who spent his life learning how to fight and training his body, then developing high tech gadgets to help make him a powerful opponent. He might not have spider like powers, but his strength is not normal for most people, and I would say his intelligence is his super power.

Thats because Spidey locked up hundreds of criminals and generally malicious people. I think Spidey would see Batman as above all those people he has locked up.

Batman would win (IMO) for pretty much the same reasons that Xooxer has already stated.

No matter what you guys say, my choise still is spidey :P.

Especially if you're talking about the new spider-man. The Spider-man we have now is just power with no brains, the old spider-man made nifty gadgets for himself at times. Batman's super suit alone is more then enough for spider webs, that thing didn't come cheap I tell you!
Lets say the scenario is both super heros believed the other was a criminal, Batman would stalk spider-man like a spider stalking a fly in it's web. |

Again with the damn car braking down. It doesn't matter, spidey would kick his ass with his eyes closed. [sarcasim]

I'm guessing that all you read in my post were the first 3 or 4 words.

Batman beats Superman on a fairly regular basis. Superman has defeated Spiderman (like that's a surprise). Ergo, according to the Transitive Property of Superheroes, Batman can defeat Spiderman.
DC characters vs. Marvel characters are very rarely a fair match up, because the DC universe has an inherently higher power level than that of the Marvel Universe... it has to do with the core philosophy. DC classically was out to wow readers with sheer escapism, whereas Marvel was trying to present characters that could be related to by everyday people. In the modern age of comics, the walls between the two approaches have been worn down, but for the well-established figures, the power divide is still very much there. Batman would defeat Spider-man, because he is Batman. |
If somehow they were locked in a small, completely empty room with no exits, alot of bright lights, in their underwear, AND Batman was really sick...
...Then spiderman would rock his world! ~Ken~ |

Uhhhh... the beginning of the story was a good deal more than 6 years ago. In every version of the story, he was bitten by a spider... but in the comic versions, including the modern comic and the re-launched "Ultimate Spider-man" version (which is newer than the movie), his webs come from a gadget on his wrists. If you're talking about the version that never had the web-shooter gadget, that's not the "new version", it's "the movie version."

Just to fulfil my curiousity - wasn't it a radioactive spider in some of the earlier versions? Whereas it was a genetically engineered spider in the movie. I know next to nothing about superheroes, so please forgive my ignorance. =) |

Yep. It has to do with the cultural paradigm. In the 1960s, radiation was poorly understood but (both optimistically and pessimistically) believed to be a powerful force that could accomplish almost anything... hence, giant radioactive monster movies and radiation-empowered superheroes (Spider-man, Fantastic Four, and the Incredible Hulk all got their powers from radiation-tinged accidents)... in the 21st century, we know that radiation doesn't do much to living things besides creative tissue damage, so that no longer works. Genetic engineering, on the other hand... we're still quite willing to believe a lot of nonsense about it.
I just thank God that Spidey wasn't relaunched in any form in the early 90s. He probably would have got his powers from a virtual reality spider. |

Like Batman doesn't have his own enhanced senses? How many times has Batman defeated his opponents completely blind? Yeah, keep doubting the bat.

Which he was exposed to via a rogue ActiveX plugin which was displayed on his computer when he accidentally hacked into a government research lab's mainframe without realising he'd done it. |
