I need something that would be in the price budget of 300 dollars, and would consist of only these parts - motherboard, cpu, and a new 3d card.
Any suggestions of what would be the best bang for my buck? I want it to play games mainly... games like BF2, Roma Victor, and many others.

I think I seen a Dell commercial the other day, the price was like $269 or like $299...

While Dell can be cheap, they arnt worth it.
If a part dies, than you need to order another Dell made part for it. |

CPU: AMD Sempron 2600+ to 2800+ Motherboard: Asus A7V880 Video Card: Radeon 9800 PRO Search around for deals. Try to get the CPU and mobo in a combo. PortaTech has some good combo deals. |

That doesn't make any sense, dell uses an Intell CPU and motherboard which should be compatible with most things go can buy.

that website doesn't seem to be working but I'll do a quick google search... anyone else agree with him?

I don't know about the Sempron processor. I would stick with the Athlon series myself, but that's strictly because I trust that series and don't know much about Semprons. The other two, however, I agree with.

I can't seem to find if the radeon 9800 supports dynamic lighting... the thing half life 2's new expansion is going to boast.

- After research on this HL2 HDR (high-dynamic range) system that will be in HL2: Aftermath, I know that you'll need something much more powerful than a radeon 9800 to use that feature, though you will be able to disable it in game if your computer doesn't have the power. If you're really intent on using that, here are the recommendations from some HL2 developers (found on pc.ign.com) - 3.2GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 6800GT or X800 Pro, et cetera. You couldn't even buy that graphic card for $300.

interesting... well I also managed to find something more for the buck...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150100&ATT=Video+Cards&CMP=OTC-pr1 c3grabb3rp If I were going to spend more than 300 on one piece, I'd want to go all out :P I've been doing some research... but I think even the card here would be worth waiting a few months for the custom mods to come out like one of the reviewers said... then it will go on sale. I'll just have to work more and save up. |
