I actually believe the former, but also that there are certain exceptions (ie: the splatty quote).

I resent that. BBash is amazing. Perhaps some of the quotes are perverted or racist, but BBash itself is fine. And funny.

I personally thought a few others were better than mine, but I entered anyway, just for the sake of participating.

The honourable mentions list was actually a good read. I missed a few of the submissions when I read this thread a while back. I liked Bootyboy's... Though, depending upon how you pronounce beloved (I pronounce it as having three syllables) , it COULD have not worked, and I think I like it even more because of the uninentional use of alternate pronunciation.

I was curious, though, this kind of came out of nowhere. Was there a particular reason for a contest, or what? Just out of the goodness of your heart, Mike?

Six minutes late disqualifies it?? Next time give us more time, especially when you are going to take your time coming back to announce a winner. Mine would have both been better and well within the time limit if I didn't read your original post just a couple minutes before the deadline.

Seriously though, six minutes? I wouldn't have thought anybody cared, and I assumed I had it in the bag. I don't care about "losing" (used loosely); however, I do think you should loosen up a bit.

Either way, good job Ter. I must have missed that one somehow when I read through them all before, as I didn't recognise it when I read Mike's post.

Nah, I was referring in particular to one of the honorable mentions that came in the following day. Anything that was good enough but a little late could have won. At the same time, it wouldn't have been fair to those who rushed to get theirs in on time if I'd chosen one that came in several hours later.

It was just a silly contest for a $1 subscription, so don't worry about it. :) I needed to test that gift subscriptions through PayPal were working properly, so I thought I'd make it a little fun for everybody. We'll have plenty of "official" contests in the future that'll be announced ahead of time so everyone will have ample opportunity to participate in time.
