It seems like it will be a cool system. Instead of online play(again), it can hook up with other people wirelessly. This could be a good thing, and yet a bad thing. Cuz imagine wirelessly hookin up with the people around you, and the people near them join, and so on(plus no internet fees...^_^).The best part is, that you can play your old Gamecube games on it. The most suprising part that I really wasnt expecting was NO BUTTONS(wtf?!). It will use a touch screen for the controller...Although I do dig da NDS, I'm not so sure about a touch screen controller...

I thought the whole No button Controller was a rumor that came up in a Gaming Mag ( I forget the mag's name) Then I guess people just jumped on it and the rumor started. Personally I doubt it's true, If MS and sony use regular controllers wouldn't that make the Developers have to change alot of things just for Nintendo's system? But Hey if it's true, it might turn out pretty cool.

The wireless with the DS is amazing. I've played about a 100 feet away from my friend, in different rooms of our school.

If you're still tryin to remember the mag's name, its probably April's Edition ofGame Informer. Thats where I found out about it. Having no buttons is a pretty big risk, but as you can see, my system's company(Nintendo) can still rake in da cash in the long run(or the short run).

My heart goes out to anyone who lives in an area of low population density. It'd be perfect for an island like Japan, but for places like Montana, and Alaska... Not a great buy. Wireless only takes you so far.

I've supported Nintendo since I was old enough to play, and I still do to this day. I really hope they'll at least have a more popularized online option. I wouldn't mind wireless play if I lived near my gaming friends, but as it stands right now, I'm about 3 hours away. Online gaming would be much preferred. I don't need a copy of Battle.net or XBox Live, I could live with having to manually type in the IP and join the game, like in most TCP/IP compatible computer games. At least I'd be able to play. (Possible with GameCube, but still too rare and expensive to become a major player.)
Touch screen controller sounds pretty awesome. If it's true, and seriously customizable, it could operate like a normal controller, just with very little wear and tear, and no annoying controller mistakes, such as the stick getting wet and slipping, or having a button get stuck down, etc. ~Polatrite~ |
the only problem with touch screens is after a while, the liquid crystal ones get "sunspots".
Also, it could be relatively cool if it was done well. Learning to play games could get tough, though, as every game could conceivably have a different button layout, causing you to have to look back and forth between the screen and the controller. Don't get me wrong, I've supported Nintendo for a long time. I remember back when I was in eighth grade, getting all pumped for "the dolphin". I was, however, livid when nintendo released "the cube". After a week of owning that hunk of junk, I sold it. I promptly bought another one when I discovered Animal Crossing, however. Nintendo is definitely going downhill. I can't stand any of the games for the DS, I HATE the fact that the new metroid prime is played like a palm pilot, and I hate the head of nintendo ltd. He claims that gamers aren't interested in online gameplay. Little did he know, XBox live hit 1 million subscribers in a fraction of the time that HBO took to hit the same mark --the same month he gave an interview stating that online games don't have a future. Nintendo angers me most of the time. They drag their feet in the handheld market until they get some competition that isn't playing around, and then all the sudden, they freak out and put forward something they were capable of making five years ago... Albeit their games can be fun, I don't care for nintendo as much as I used to. |

I think Nintendo is doing a lot of money-hashing right now, with constant releases of old games and generically restyled new games. It IS pretty disappointing, and I hope they'll shape up soon. They have the creative potential, they just don't seem to be applying it. ~Polatrite~ |

"It will use a touch screen for the controller...Although I do dig da NDS, I'm not so sure about a touch screen controller..." No, just no. Recently GameInfomer released an article saying the Revolution would be a touchscreen controller and such. Posted in an April issue makes this claim an obvious April Fools Joke considering Iwata said in no way will the Revolution use the same touchscreen technology as the DS. Yeah, it will have Wi-Fi capabilities right out of the box, meaning there are possibilites for online service. The DS has Wi-Fi straight from the box, and now Nintendo is co-creating an online service with Gamespy that is also free of charge. The first confirmed online game is Animal Crossing which will be insane. Nintendo is now taking a bigger stand on online and I see them progressing into the next generation of home consoles. Is Nintendo doing down? I have no idea why people make such bold statements. Nintendo is going no where. As of now, Nintendo continues to make profits. And guess what? More than Sony and Microsoft. ~Maku |
Nintendo isn't dragging their feet at all when it comes to the hand held market, they are simply waiting.
I am sure they already HAVE a number of handheld systems designed or even proto-typed. Alot of this stuff is probly too expensive right now to release. I mean, when the GBA came out I thought $100 was expensive. But then look at how expensive the Sega Game Gear, Nomad or even the Atari Lynx cost when they first came out. I WAS going to buy a Sony PSP, just because I LIKE Sony. But after looking at the price tag, I decided just to buy Yoshi's Touch and go and move on. Nintendo hasn't been putting out crap games either. I bought Mario 64, Rayman, Yoshi's Touch and Go, Mr.Driller Spirits and Wario Ware Touched, and they were all awesome. Not to mention in the fall, they have a awesome line up. Anyways, as for the online thing, I don't think HAND HELD games should be online at all. Wireless, ya, online, na. I can play online Pocket PC games if I want with my combo PPC/Cell Phone, but I dont, because I have to pay a fee for every MB downloaded from online. And I just DONT play online games on my Xbox, PS2 or Gamecube, and I could, and all with free alternatives to the pay games. When I want to play an online game, Ill turn my computer on. |
I was reading about Revolution today at a game site.
One of the specs they let out into the general public right now is something like downloading content. That could be anything from: A. Downloading Patches and Fixes B. Downloading Games Nintendo tried this one in Japan with the Snes. It didn't work out too well, and it was really expensive. Now with the internet and cable connections, it could be a better idea. Id love to be able to download a game from the net and play it, instead of having to go to the store and buy a copy. Especailly with games like Resident Evil 3. I want to play it, but its hella hard to find, and if you want to buy it, prepair to pay alot out of your own pocket. If the Revolution can indeed play Gamecube games and the new games like someone else stated, the LCD touch screen might be a good idea, depending on the game system game, the buttons could change around. Although honestly Id just like support for both gamecube controllers and the new ones. They said they named it that cause they are going to try something brand new, lets hope the Big N dosent let us down. (What am I saying? they never have let me down.) |

You must not have looked well at these auctions, I have already looked.
I WANT Resident Evil 1,2,3 and Code Veronica for the Nintendo Gamecube. They are out of print. If you go to Capcom's Site they want $1000.00 a game, and if you order it, it just cancles your order or makes it outstanding. Any auctions on Ebay for these games, and they are the offical, orginal North Amercian prints, may START OUT at $5 or $10 but will end up anywhere from $80 to $100, for one game alone. If you happen to find the UK Versions of any of these games, please tell me, I happen to have an unopened copy of freeloader for the Gamecube, so imports don't effect me. |
The touch tone screen is a bad idea, hopefully its just an option rather than a requirement. It would be so much easier and faster with a controller.
