How do you use it?

of course you need to have a port opened up on your home network (as in DreamSeeker) so that others can join your games too. the only real visible difference between the two is that you can run DD in the background without having to log into the game yourself via DS to host it.

Unfortunately several games don't work on DD because of shoddy code.

There are also some that are too complex to work in DD, Incursion wouldn't work in it for a long time. This is actually related to a design flaw in DD.

Same with Seika, and I believe SS13.

Some of those games require host authorization, and since DD doesn't use an actual client to connect to games the games get confused and terminate because they expect the host the login right away. Other games that use "host commands" can't be hosted remotely, which is annoying -- I say all games that have host commands should have an editable settings file where you can define the host for such remote hosting needs. (Crispy, I'm talking to you...I wanna host your space game remotely, but I can't!)

Uh, Nadrew - When you want to make a feature request, it helps if you make it in a place where I'm likely to see it, rather than an obscure Developer Forum thread which I may or may not bother to read. =P I'll put it on my TODO list. Edit: Fixed link. |

I actually just remembered as I was posting, so I added it. =P

Just start it up, go File->Open, select the DMB file of the game you want to host, enter a port to host on where it says "Port", set a security level ("safe" is usually fine) where it says "Security", set a visibility level where it says "Visibility", and click "GO". Tada, the game is being hosted.
