What does a contest sound like? Um, a NES mini game contest. Like lets take some of the NES games, e.g(Mario, Ice Climbers, Balloon Fight, F Zero, etc) but I would wish(to keep it simple) something more Arcade style(The original Mario with donkey kong and the barrels) It be very fun to see. But if you think this is a bad idea, don't critisize me plz cuz It was just a thought, to fancy up the forum. ALSO I would prolly say, a prize? Maybe some sorta of COOL THING?

And from the shadows rose that person....

Interesting duck hunt idea, think my Hunter of Ducks game(http://games.byond.com/hub/Artekia/HunterofDucks) is worth making multiplayer?

I recreated the first Dragon Warrior game for NES a while back. However, my computer crashed and I lost it. I lost a lot of stuff back then, many thousands of hours of programming work including Byond stuff. It was back when I was at my peak of programming savagery, programming 10+hours every day for fun.
The Dragon Warrior game was not finished, but was very far along. I just had to finish programming the effects for spells and special items and I would have been finished. It was a near-perfect replica of the game. Too bad it's gone. This does sound interesting, and many NES games would be fairly simple to recreate. I prefer doing my own unique games, but bringing back the past created by others can be fun too. I'll think about joining this li'l party you have going. I would have taken Legend of Zelda, but someone else called that already. Perhaps Tetris. One thing to think about though; you should look into the desires of the creators of the original game. Nintendo, the creator of the Zelda line, hates having anyone else make fangames of their stuff. Enix, on the other hand, actually encourages the Dragon Warrior fangames. |
Not to be a loser, but
1. Wasn't F-ZERO for the SNES? I wasn't playing games at that time, but I have emulators, and there was no way a NES could pull off F-ZERO. 2. BYOND can't do F-ZERO. Even that new "Super trippy" FPS 3D engine couldn't pull it off. Well, maybe, if it was made smoother. |
the NES wouldn't be able to exactly pull off f-zero just like it was on the SNES, but it could make something close, even something with a similiar perspective.
BYOND can do something like f-zero http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~rrm322/racer2.dmb |
Wow, it's lovely.
Positively great. Could do with a larger resolution, but would that effect performance? |
Wow, thats nice..heh. Oh I would like to mention Tetris does sound like a good idea. Hope it works out :)
|
Well if you made alot of moving turf backrounds, and the player just kinds stay sorta moved..you could i would think. It would be very tricky I say tho!
|
It's safe to say, that it can be done. BYOND's system is much, much more sophisticated than an ole' NES. The problem is finding the correct programmer to do it, and if so, finding the enthusiasm to do so. I mean, this guy has to have sheer love for NES gaming ... if you know what I mean.
