Just wondering if anyone is going to buy this, is in the fileplanet stress test or is going to play it in open beta this monday. Personally I love the game and think it will kill every other MMORPG out there, including EQ2.
(If your going to play in open beta me and my guild are on Test 4 on eastern.)

It's nothing special, but from what I've seen (not much I admit) it looks like Blizzard is taking the MMORPG genre and giving it a really good polish. The features aren't anything particularly special for the most part, no, but Blizzard has a reputation for finely tweaking and polishing. Their games have lots of style; it's the occasional lack of substance that turns me off.

While I generally lose interest in the MMORPG-style games very fast, I absolutely love playing most of Blizzard's games. For that I'm going to give them a chance by buying the game and seeing if I like the gameplay or not. If I do, I've found a new hobby. If I don't, I have an extra useless CD. =P

Game is overhyped. Everyone without exception I know who has played it, has either gone back to EverQuest, or moved to EverQuest2 to get an even worse surprise and then move back to EQ.
The games need time to mature, granted, but they were completely overhyped and a huge letdown for many people. Won't stop me from trying WoW, though, since im an old Blizzard fan. |

That is pretty pathetic. From my experience Everquest does nothing more than a shallow text mud with the exception of a burdensome 3D engine to create a large timesink moving to and from bland looking areas :P. |

The areas in the latest expansion actually look very nice. But yeah, other than that its bland city =)

The EQ community (the hardcore players) is a very unaccepting community i've learned.

Well, what sucks about it exactly? It pretty much takes the good things about other MMOs and improves on them. Your either saying this to say it or you haven't played the game at all.

I personally liked guild wars when I tested it... amazing game. No time sinks at all, but basically same things :)
Shadowbane was REALLY a lot of fun but it was too poorly made... If they remade shadowbane, I would go back to it in a heart beat :) |

I love Guild Wars. Unfortunately, I can no longer use the map with my puny TNT2 card so I had to walk everywhere. I like the gameplay though.
During the recent World Preview Event, I noticed some people wanted GW to charge monthly to weed people out. I'm hoping those who wanted that go to WoW because I found their elitist whining more offensive than a random spam message or lude comment. |

Here, here! I totally agree. I tried EQ for a while and just kept thinking "I could be mudding for free. Wow." But I tossed the CD to my brother and he is still addicted, despite hating MUDs (WTF?).
I would try WoW, but I am afraid I would like it and never go to work or socialize :-) Theodis wrote: That is pretty pathetic. I'm so glad I don't play MMORPGs anymore... So now I can look at them at a different point of view, and see how crummy they really are. The people who are entertained by these games, if they became poor, I'm thinking would be the people you'd see playing Seika for 200 hours.
I'm very dissipointed in Blizzard releasing WoW... They were game-making gods when it came to great single player action, and I'd rather see them start working on that stuff, then release another cruddy MMORPG. Face it, they are all the same but a few minor adjustments. |

I bet if EQ had to choose between the chance to allow every person playing it to play it for free, and all the people who made it to never have to pay a bill again, or the second choice of the few top executives getting 500 million dollars richer if they take all the work and burn it outside, they'd burn it like there was no tomarrow.
EQ reminds me of the pathetic card games sucking kids in and making them spend more and more and more money. They get them addicted, only to dissipoint them later on. In card games, this comes because the kids (hopefully) mature out of playing them, and see what a waste of money they are (You could buy a video game containing the same features and fun as the card game did, but spend hundreds of dollars less.). EQ takes from it's players, gives back a little to a few of them, then takes more from the rest of the players. The reason why their motto is "Kiss your family and friends goodbye" is because they programmed it to only allow people with absolutely nothing else to do whatsoever to have fun with the game. I might still play it, had it been more user-friendly, and actually do a service for the public, instead of grabbing a hold of it's users and sucking the life from them, like an overzealous tabacco company. |
I don't really understand what's the big deal, I think it Sucks! I don't think it will be better then any other RPG, and people are only wasting their time.*
