I know it may be a bit early for the bringing of this up. For those who don't know, they are making a movie about Alien Vs Predetor. Just was curious who would want to see this movie, and who do you think will win? Just a little off the side babble. I personally can't decide who would win. So what do you think? Especially Gughunter, since he SHOULD know ;)

You had me lost there with a second with all those odd words =P Yeah. I havn't seen the Alien movies in a while, so I personally can't remember which is the original and what not without seeing them again. Predator has more of a brain then the Alien I suppose, but you can't really say who would win literally since they are science fiction, but its always fun to put charactaristics together and figure what would over power what. I like movies such as this, just candy for the mind. Freddy Vs Jason was entertaining and funny to me, just because of the plot.
S2k P.S. Lets hope Monstoro comes out before this flick ;) |
I definitely want to see it...
Who will win? Let's see here... The Predators are highly skilled and equipped game hunters... The Aliens are extremely dangerous game... I can only assume that the plot setup will involve the Predators going after this new trophy, and getting more than they expected... Who will win, will it be the Predators, or the Aliens? Neither, it will be the Marines...lol Actually, I'd bet they'll have it come down to a "tie" like Freddy vs Jason... There's really no other universally acceptable way to handle a "vs" scenario between two well-loved properties (as in the outcome won't alienate (heh) half of the audience...lol) |

Lol, the Marines. I wouldn't be happy if thats how they ended the movie...U.S. Forces storms Antartica =P I guess we storm into every other country/continent...why not Antartica! A guess a tie would most likely happen. If not, there could be riots with Alien fans against Predator fans! :) Hope not to see you on CNN with a violent crows if Alien loses Guy ;)

Well this is my thought on it, as it was my thoughts on "Freddy VS Jason"
It will either be great or terrible, there will be no inbetween, especially when your working with such a large fan database. I only liked the Preditor and Alien's movies, for me they didnt have enough gore, the plots weren't all that hard and it was SciFi. Now don't get me wrong, Im a huge fan of Horror movies, and usually plots are not TOO terrible hard to follow in horror movies either, Im just a fan of that geran.(SP?) I dont really like the plot they used, I think going with the Arcade game plot would of been better... The Preditors Hunt the Aliens because they are the only thing in the known universe that can stand their ground compaired to the Preditors.. Their hunt (the Preditors) eventually lead them to Earth, where they discover the Amercian Govt. is breeding Aliens for their own use! Thats the basic idea of the arcade game, I like that a little better then some team of jerk wads finding a arena for Aliens and Preditors. Anyways, the movie may be great. They did a great job with "Freddy VS Jason", they kept the gore, they kept the rude crude jokes, they kept the tits (face it, they ARE part of the Jason movies =P )and more importnaly they kept the orginal charaters of Jason and Freddy perfect. I actully think they made Jason bigger didn't they? They made him better then before, and because of this movie, Id like to see more Jason films. If they keep Aliens and Preditors true to their nature, and not side step around them too much, or try too much of a complicated plot, keep the special FX top notch and crank out the gore a bit more, I think itll be a winner. One thing that frightens me is the fact in a movie mag I read, they said some developers said this year will be the year for VS movies. One line actully mentioned "Superman VS Batman" which in my opinion is a terrible idea. What is the movie industry coming to? Network TV? I mean, whats next, movies based on Survival TV? Hell. |

Lol, Superman Vs Batman. Sounds like a Comedy. Don't even make sense considering they are both "good guys" I wouldn't see it.

Well, I've never played it, but I believe in the Aliens vs Predator video game, another selectable character is a human Marine... Not a "marine" like we think of... But a dude like from Half-life or whatever (lots of big equipment, armored suits, etc)...
So it would only make sense if the context of the game is followed to have these marines called into action to keep these two opposing forces from destroying everything (I know, not much to destroy in Antarctica, but perhaps they've discovered a way off or something..lol) And these marines will end up being the winners... Heck, Sigourney Weaver and Danny Glover (maybe even the Governator could make an appearance) can be there to lead the human forces to victory...lol Besides, there has to be some human fodder thrown in there for the two monsters to kill...lol And I'd bet they'd go through just the scientists rather quickly... (Please note that I'm only half-joking about all that up there... I don't really think that the Marines will win, but you never know...) |

In all four Alien movies, the humans won. I think they won in both the Predator movies, too, though I don't remember for sure.
Possible spoiler: There's also the little detail that this one takes place prior to the Alien movies, and in those movies the Alien is clearly mentioned as a kind of life form no one has ever seen before; so whatever happens in this one, it must not reveal much of the truth to the rest of Earth. I'm putting my money on mankind! |

The plot would be something like Superman turned evil because of [something] and Batman is forced to find a way to either turn him back... or destroy him! It's not really a fair fight however, Batman is too smart. If they face off Batman is likily to invent artificial kryptonite out of like a toilet roll holder and a can of spray paint. The only way Superman would win is if he just went flat out and bashed Batman, however since the only way they'll ever fight is if Superman or Batman turns evil, either Superman wont be able to finish Batman or Batman will get a window too escape while Superman struggles with the internal good/evil conflict. |

When it came to ass-kicking toughness.. the aliens always won. But we stuck together and busted them all out. We're smarter than them, we have weapons and technology on our side. I would want to see some cool weapons and gadgets, some awesome sound, and lots of effects. Unless you make me happy, I'll try hunting you down.

In all four Alien movies, the humans won. I think they won in both the Predator movies, too, though I don't remember for sure. This movie falls back to the beginnings of Weyland Yutani, so this is pre-alien but post predator. The movie is about when Charles Weyland was starting up the Corporation(Pre-Yutani I'm hoping they don't set it's name as it was after the merger, which didn't happen until a little before they made the Ripley clone.) and he sets up satellites to scan over the planet, and the scans find some pyramids in Antarctica. So Weyland sends a research team down and thats pretty much where the carnage begins, I believe. I'm sure the movie will revolve around the interactions with humanity and the predators from the past, and the decisions of the uses of the xenomorphs for the future. I'm just wondering what kind of weapons they will give the researchers, if any at all, because Pulse Rifles weren't invented at this time, well by the Dark Horse comics they weren't. In my opinion, I'm betting they are going to end it with the humans and predators surviving. Most likely half the research team will be face hugged and the young predators doing this test will be fiercely out numbered and doing the honorable thing will gladly fight even if they are doomed to die in this battle. Then the humans will somehow interfere and help fight off the aliens and disgrace the predators, but the elders will come and find out what happened and will reinstate the predators' honor by allowing a new test to begin. Or something along those lines.... A good site that has a small section for the movie is http://www.planetavp.com, a gamespy network site for the Alien versus Predator series of games, which I recommend trying out if you have not already. |

The Predator had plenty of gore, heck you even get to see old J. Ventura get a plasma bolt to burn a hole in the center of his body. The Preditors Hunt the Aliens because they are the only thing in the known universe that can stand their ground compaired to the Preditors.. Their hunt (the Preditors) eventually lead them to Earth, where they discover the Amercian Govt. is breeding Aliens for their own use! The Predators hunt xenomorphs because they offer physical challenge, thats only their way of testing combat ability. Predators prefer hunting humans because they have to rely on tactics and stealth, not brute force, since humans are much more intelligent than xenomorphs. Oh yea and to keep myself from making another post in the thread here is a reply I have been meaning to make to one of Gug's posts below. Gughunter wrote: The rumor is that Weyland of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation (a.k.a. The Company) will appear and be played by Lance Henriksen (Bishop). I really wish they had chosen a differen't time period for this, because I have always wanted to see who the person Weyland had merged with, Yutani doesn't make any appearances in any of the movies it seems. Plus, I believe they would have to get the guy who played Bishop in, because his model was made out of the image of Charles Weyland, wasn't it? What I don't understand is, he(Charles) was still alive when he appeared in the leadworks in Aliens 3, but that had to of been a few hundred years since the start of his company, and I'm hoping this movie answers the question whether he was cloning himself or staying in a sleep chamber when he was not needed. |

not brute force Unless theyre fighting the Govenator, then they get into a fist fight. |
Curse you. I read this post the other day now I own Predator on DVD.
Although on the plus side I realised that it's actually a really well made movie. The special effects have stood the test of time, and the way it was shot is pretty good considering it's a old movie about an alien who hunts commandos. |

Well, maybe Yutani will be in this one... or maybe Yutani isn't a person but just a corporate name like Nintendo (or maybe Nintendo was a person... I dunno). Plus, I believe they would have to get the guy who played Bishop in, because his model was made out of the image of Charles Weyland, wasn't it? I've always suspected the one in Alien 3 was just another android built to the Bishop model. But then it doesn't pay to try to apply too much thought to Alien 3. :) |

From what I understand, the movie will feature an Antarctic expedition that discovers a battleground between Aliens and Predators. This may be a tip of the hat to H.P. Lovecraft, whose "At the Mountains of Madness" features a team of scientists who travel to Antarctica and discover an ancient horror that predates (or maybe I should add a hyphen to make it "pre-dates", to avoid confusion with Predator and predation) mankind. (Alien has often been described as "Lovecraft in space", which is why I bring it up.)
The rumor is that Weyland of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation (a.k.a. The Company) will appear and be played by Lance Henriksen (Bishop). (I'm a huge Weyland-Yutani fan -- the Monstoro equivalent is "Haywood-Jablomi" -- and I have a baseball cap I made myself by sewing a Weyland-Yutani patch onto a plain cap.)
Anyway, you can bet I'm looking forward to it. All the Alien movies after the first one have had their flaws, but they've also all had their unique charms. I don't expect this new one will match the original Alien, but I'll be happy if it at least makes for an interesting movie the way the other sequels have.
