What would you like to see in a DragonBall game? I'm making one, and yes, original coding + icons. But, I just want the people who complain about DBZ games to tell me what they would like to see in one except training on a punching bag all day long. Give me some great ideas, I really need them because I really want to make all of you happy with a good DB game.
Thanks!

If you're heart is set on making YaDBG why not make one that is non-RPG or even fighting based, like... A track and field type of game but with more of a worlds strongest man sort of theme. Different events that require amazing feats of strength of which live players can compete in tournament style or head-to-head on each event. An eating contest. Even with limited viewing of the series it's difficult to miss the running gag of how much the characters enjoy and are capable of eating. As well as how nearly every character is named after some sort of food or kitchen appliance. Those two suggestions aren't great, but just examples of how easy it is to make an unqiue DBG. You have the ability to get creative since you're doing things the right way and not building off of some else's source code. Good luck with your project. |

Well, It's going to be hard to find serious Dragonball fans nowadays. They've all gone to a new anime trend, Naruto *sigh*

I watch the anime Adult Swim and Toonami puts out for me. Im still on Dragonball GT and TriGun.. =/ In anycase, try to stay away from Zeta elements. Icons, Turfs.. Speed Bags. Find better and unique ways to train. Try to think of a better combat system. Heres examples ive been playing with.. Ive made combat more of a Table Top gaming feeling. Players have Hit Dice, Critical %, Armour Classes and more. Its also automated and turned based, like a mud. Some attacks you can push in while in combat, some like Kamehameha you can only use out of combat cause its a charge type Ki technique. Also whenever a player makes a hit in combat they gain exp, along with killing the mob or player they will gain that exp bonus. Also Dragonball games get boring fast, so I added in little elements such as fishing, plant growing, Animal Raising, Almost like Animal Crossing Crap there to fill in when the players dont feel like kicking each others' asses. Those are some general ideas to play off of. I hope it helps in some way. |

Try something that's never been done. If you want some ideas, try this: Players have 4 basic abilities... Punch, Kick, Fly, & Guard. The other abilities come in the form of 'cards'. You can purchase cards or find them by defeating items or finding them randomly on the map. Each card has a special ability imprinted on it (Destructo Disc card, Kamehameha card, Superform 1 card, Energy Blast card, etc.). Once you use a card once, it disappears forever. The way to get experience is to go around on the world map (and the map should be massive) and fight enemies or other players. And that's just a very simple way to innovate. Maybe another idea could be to try making a first person DBZ game. The possibilities are endless. Just don't conform to making a game exactly like all the others. |

If you add in stupid things like most of you have suggested(no offence but this is considering what i'm about to say next) then it makes it very un dragonballz like and defeats the point of a DRAGONBALLZ game.

EXACTLY! Originality! We're tired of DBZ, whether it is ripped or not! And, I'm tired of trolls saying all DBZ games are bad. Majority of them are, yes, but not all. I can almost completely say mine and a few others games are just as elaborate in programming and graphics-wise as any other original content game on BYOND. It may not be what you like, but it's still just as hard to make. So, before you go and say they all suck just because you don't like the series, doesn't mean they haven't been worked on hard by honest people. |

I have to agree with you. Most games now that are Zeta are really crappy. Quite the while ago I decided to scrap the Zeta version and start from scratch. The game is going to be very interesting and more stable that way.

I would like to see a done DBZ game...One that the icons are Logically Dense and Theres a point to the game...Like beating a boss and getting massive EXP for it...Most of all Icons should be original/strictly for fan games.
Icons are just about everything-along side with a point to why we should play other than to watch a bunch of A**holes kill the new_comers to the game. |

Generally speaking, people who complain about DBZ games would not like to see one. Asking them what they'd like to improve is like asking someone who hates jello what flavor they'd prefer. A DBZ Empire Management Game. Whos the strongest warrior to dominate the world...Have you ever played the board game "RISK", its a world domination game...Turned based...maybe something like that and the game restarts when someone wins!! You know what i might actually like that... *tries to pound the idea into someones head*...I enjoyed Leftley's "Lode Wars" Maybe he could do a game like that...i wouldn't care what icons he used...i just want a game like that! Good luck to all of you. |

1) I didn't say they are bad.
2) I didn't say they sucked. 3) I didn't complain about 'hard working honest people' So read what I say next time. I said, they're annoying, whether they contain original code/icons or not. |

Ya, actually, I did. And, this is what I saw:
Airjoe wrote: EXACTLY! Originality! We're tired of DBZ, whether it is ripped or not! It means you just threw all those games with the same genre into one bit boat, ripped, original, what ever. That's insulting to me, SSGX, and anyone who has spent months or years working on their game to be categorized in the same area as a rip would. How about I take all your games (original or not), throw them in the same area as every other type of game and say we're (where we're really means a few, not many) tired of it, go make something else, how would you feel? EXACTLY, as you would put it, it'd make you feel pretty crummy to have your hard work just shot down just because, someone thought it'd be cool to go with the other more popular people on the subject. Sorry, but I am just tired of people on BYOND who are soo stereotypical of someone with a key with DBZ in it. And, if anyone who was in Chatters yesterday, they'll know why. Enough said, I'm done replying with this, I may as just well quit BYOND since I'll never get any real respect because of my choice in entertainment or name. As the old saying goes, "judge a man by his character not by his looks (or in this case, name)". |

Yeah, but you're not getting respect from people you really shouldn't care about getting respect from. I think the people with serious DBZ issues are just an extremely vocal minority. Personally, I'm not a DBZ fan, (though I've been subjected to viewing most of the episodes through my kids), but it doesn't bother me at all if you want to make a DBZ game. Heck, the main reason the Zeta rips bother me has less to do with their existence and more to do with the bad coding habits newcomers learn from using the source. As to you creating your own game, as long as you follow Dantom's rules, and don't attempt to drag me in there against my will, we'll be just fine ;) |

I thank you for your support, Flick. And, you just made a valid point, Zeta is not a learning tool, never was and never should be. And, you also reminded of something else:
Build Your Own Net Dream There you have it people, written into the program it self. [edit] P.S. Flick, that's why you rock! =D [/edit] |
