I have a few things to say:

You didnt tell them to fire, you just gave them a gun and ammo. Limewire being the gun. Your internet being the ammo.

Anyway, the point is, Limewire isnt Illegal, The people who send songs and recive are... Did that make sence?

A gun dosnt kill people, but a tonn of led in the gut dose. (im not sure how that fits in, but it sounds cool)

Anyway, heres a message everyone should understand... even me, "Don't do what you shouldn't, Unless your on T.V or live in Japan."

Did I make sence? I don't know, Just I havn't pasted on BYOND in a while. I didn't really pay attention to the topic eather... >< oh well... I'm off.

It's more like manufacturing a B-52 bomber, selling it to someone, and taking no responsibility when they bomb something. "OH NO! I NEVER intended for it to be used to BOMB something!" And since you can't prove what their intent was, they get away scot-free.

Same as with manufacturing a gun.

What do you mean? Guns aren't bought just to have???!?!?! I was never told of this!

There are many uses for a gun(uses past the point of firing it, which is the only main use).
What I don't get is why some websites can actually SELL the songs. That's worse than downloading them free, because the websites are making profit off someone elses property, where things like kazaa aren't selling it.

"But they bought the CD with the songs on it!"

Well, think about it. So did someone on Kazaa. It didn't just appear there. Anyway, whatever.

*Moves to canada, downloads lots of songs, moves back home* Wait, you probobly have to be a canadian citizen, don't you? -_-

Some businesses, like iTumes, have boughten the copyrights to a certain amount of songs, and therefore can sell copies.

I'm not saying all the websites do, but most that sell the songs have liscenses to sell the songs.

So, technically, someone could go out and buy some licenes and distribute them freely?

*wastes 100s of dollars on licenses for the betterness of internet pirates!* Get your free, legal music here!

Wait, thats what pepsi is doing...

"But judge sir, I didn't intend for this young man to use my potato gun to take a bankteller hostage!"

Technicalities and loopholes rock!

No because part of the license is an agreement as to how the distribution will be limited. Known as Digital Rights Management (DRM).

In the case of iTunes there are restrictions built in to how you can use the songs.

Depends on your point of view.

This reminds me of a quote from a Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman book I'm reading at the moment (Good Omens, it's hilarious):

The Kappamaki, a whaling research ship, was currently researching the question: How many whales can you catch in one week?
