there is no such thing as "The best pc out on the market" But its good that you did get a good computer. I got wireless connecters for my computers, but i will have to return them(they are usb, not the card).Merry Christmas!

If there's no best PC on the market, then that means there's no way that one PC can be quantifiably identified as superior to another in every way. If that's the case, then, yes, he does have the best PC on the market.

I got a CD-RW/DVD-ROM. Now I can finaly burn the isos instead of having em on my computer.

well... latest G5 Macs come pretty darn close, in my opinion! and the 17" Powerbooks, and 17" Toshiba laptops are *really* nice too!
I got a Dunlop brass slide, some effects pedal couplers, and really nice 20' long guitar cable. I also got a bunch of random picks. And the usual cologne stuff ofcourse. Oh yeah, I got a some chocolate covered coffee beans, which I haven't had in a LONG time! Good stuff!

No, the G5 mac's are way too over rated, though they may be powerful they are still mac's, and all mac's can do is prosess their own crappy data.

fat lot you know- the latest Macs since the G4 can do (and have done) everything a PC can do, and in numerous cases do it better and easier. this is held even more so by the introduction of MacOS X (barring the nasty firewire bug) since it is built from the ground up with a *nix-type core.

tons of big name games and applications have been ported to the Mac in the last 5 years or so.

about the only thing remaining that hurts them is their price- but many models, like the recent iMacs and G5s, are bringing their prices down to compete with PC with similar configurations.

on a serious note, at work we have both a 1.8Ghz dual-G5 and a 2.8Ghz dual-Pentium 4 Xeon box (running RedHat Linux) that are used for video rendering projects... the G5 is so much faster (at least 30-50% faster in some jobs) that we can now retire the P4 box to being a file-server, web-server, video-burning and print-server for the entire network.

The Microsoft Windows days are numbered - long live 64-bit powered *nix!

:p

(oh, and I got a pewter necklace and a silly flying toy called a X-zylo for xmas)

I don't care about your stupid sales pitch. The mac's have always suck, always will, and nothing can change that.
And no, i do not like microsoft, but atleast they actually know how to code a partially good looking OS.

Well, at least you have your scope correct, now just work on containing the vitriol.

As far as what I got for Christmas, well, Christmas is no longer a net positive holiday for me. However, I did go and buy myself a new computer as a present to myself.

pfft... no pitch, just personally experienced *fact*. "partially good looking OS"? HA! KDE and Gnome under Linux both look and function better than Windoze (to me atleast) and don't have the consistency of Swiss-cheese in security holes! but i will agree that the MacOS bugs me in setting up network share links (they don't survive reboots when placed in the lower shortcut bar)

"The mac's have always suck" - true for anything before MacOS 9... but i'm betting you haven't actually sat down and used a Mac on a regular basis. I use Mac, Windows, and Linux every day because of the kinds of work I do- *all of them* have their pros and cons... unfortunately Windows is getting less and less used because the other two OSs just do things better usually (expect for some games).

I can't really compare the two, because I've never used a 'nix system. But, from what I have used I currently like Windows because of its "user friendliness". I just think that Windows is more for the, average Joe. But, anyhow, I got WarCraft 3, and am also getting a bench/weight set. =D

I got a 5600.

It was from MSI.

You see, my old GeForce 4 4400 broke, and it was under warranty. But they didn't have any 4400's in stock, so they had to send me a 5600.

Thats a great way to rip those people off! ^^;

I personally havent messed with macs much sense old mac days, so i cant judge. I like the windows OS much more than *nix systems. I like being able to do things in a timely and easy manner. If i want to install something, i just do, no muss, no fuss. Granted i still run a linux computer for my site, there are still many problems with it. I like windows XP a lot, but it does have manny security risks, i understand that. If air bugs were worked out, it would be a great OS. (P.S. I got call to duty for Christmas too, if anyone wants to play me i go by Blind_Sniper)

Kami's decided to make his life in the future very easy. Having determined what conditions were at one point in the past, it is no longer necessary for him to observe them at any point in the future. He knows Macs sucked because the last time he checked, they sure did. Why would he need to check again? It's not like the universe is a place of at least four dimensions were things can change from one moment to the next or anything, is it?

I haven't actually used a Mac higher than 7 for an extended period of time, but having recently started doing technical support on both Macintosh and Windows, I have to say that I'm seeing lots of signs that 10 kicks all the ass there is to be kicked. I haven't had much chance to sit down and play with one, but, speaking to hundreds of Mac and Windows users in a week, I have to say:

1) The Mac users are over whelmingly more easy going then the Windows ones, at least in areas having to do with computer problems... this implies they have less frustrations with their computer.

2) When something does go seriously and mysteriously wrong, Windows users are more likely to accept (or propose themselves) "that's just the OS, it gets that way" as an explanation.

Taking those two observations together, I'd say that contrary to all supposed evidence that Windows computers are more powerful or more versatile or whatever than a Mac, it's clear that Mac users expect more from their system and are used to getting it.

Some people have said they don't "get" OS 10, especially the 10.3 "Panther"... but I haven't yet talked to anyone who said, "The piece of crap conked out on me the first day. I can't open two programs at once if I don't wanna force restart it. But what did I expect from Macintosh?"

That said, Apple's pop mail client can only be politely described as "quirky."
In response to Scoobert
Installing and uninstalling on OS 10 seems to be very no fuss/no muss... near as I can tell without actually handling one, it's all drag and drop.
