The people who make money off of paypal like paypal. No one else. :p

Paypal would be just fine as long as it was more flexable... But it's not. It is also quite slow, but, still it is faster than mail.

I love PayPal... In fact, most of the things in my DBZ collection were paid for through PayPal...
If you do any business on eBay, it's the [i]best[/i] way to pay for your stuff (or to get your payment from stuff you've sold)... No need to send anything through the mail... No need to buy a postal money order... No need to hide cash... No need to convert anything... Just enter a few pieces of info, and its done! It's wonderful... It's even better when the seller has a nice little convenient link for their auction account, and you can just click on it after the auction is done, and it fills in everything automatically... However, I could see that it would be a pain for kids, though... You've pretty much gotta have a credit card or a savings account to use the service well... Neither of which, many minors have access to... But for anyone who can use it fully, it's an excellent service... | |

If that were true, then nobody would like paypal, because nobody would use it and the people supposed to be making money off it wouldn't be, so they wouldn't like it either.

People are FORCED to use paypal. If you don't have a credit card, or you don't have a paypal account, for most monthly pay online games, no playing for you.

I think paypal would be one of the only online banking services I can accualy lay a little trust in... Fraud is so easy to do with so many of the online services... With a verified paypal account paypal knows your bank is there and how to use it ... very useful. I'm not saying fraud wont exsist through paypal, because thats going a step too far. But im sure its quite less than other money services ;)

I fail to see the problem with "inbetweenery"... Even with all transactions going through a third party, it's still immensely more convenient than having to buy money orders and send them through regular mail...
I could see, however, that from a seller's point of view, it adds an extra step in getting your money... Because you've not only got to wait for the buyer to send the money, but then for PayPal to send you your withdrawl check... But I've never used it to get any money, only to pay for things...and for that, it's the best... So I suppose if you're a seller, it might not be the best... But if you're a customer, it's a great tool... However, now that I think of it a bit more, I'd still say that it's better even for a seller... After all, most sellers can't accept credit cards straight out, no one in their right mind would trust personal checks, and cash is too risky... So the majority of sellers have to rely solely on money orders...which take basically as much time to send through the mail as you can get PayPal to send you a check after they instantly receive payment from your buyer... And like I said above, it's a LOT more convenient for a buyer to just fill in some online forms and click "Send Money" than to have to run to the bank or drug store to buy a money order, paying an extra fee in the process... P.S. Heh, I know that [i]-style tags don't work here, I'm just too used to typing them on the two or three other boards I visit, and it happens before I realize where I am...lol It's almost automatic... Oh well, everyone gets the point...lol | |

If you take the time to look on the net, and to think about it, there are quite a variety of ways of paying for services, the least of which is the good old-fashioned check or money order! Kinda like how most people here added "BYONDdimes" to their accounts! And going to paypal is not such a bad thing. At worst, it should weed out the BYONDscammers and conversely force you, as the payee, to think carefully about what you are spending ma and pa's money on. | |
