This is retarded.
[Edit] In my modest opinion, the base around BYOND was the fact you can inherit a sum of money from it -- It kept the adrenalin pumping to know you can get money off of your work. Seems now it's merely a thought in your head, and no longer reality. If Dantom found it hard to send checks to peoples doors, they could of hired someone to do it for them. Or, someone that would do it for free. If it was because the loss of money, then that's another story.. [/Edit] RaeKwon |

Well this will probably thin out some of the icon chat games since the owners will no longer be making money off of selling GM status. I wouldn't doubt it was caused by kids buying GM, then abusing it, and then asking Dantom for their money back. Some of these kids should not be allowed to handle money of any kind. :)

Since this effects the developers more than the players, are BYOND DIMES just being phased out and we will have to go through paypal or something else direct? Cause if you can setup a business account on PayPal then Dantom would just have to setup a link generator but filling in a view blanks, and could set it up where it took them to the PayPal site to handle transactions, then returned them to the site if successfull. On problem with this model is it allows the developers to continue to make money off their ideas, but cut Dantom out of the loop. Perhaps a surchage could be placed on each deposit? Anyways I WAS planning to try and turn making games for BYOND into a part time job, so would hope a better developer explaination could be made here in the forum. LJR |

I think that is one reason why Dantom is doing this, is to cut them out of the loop.

There was some talk of using PayPal instead; basically so that Dantom doesn't have to deal with the transfer of money themselves. Apparently BYONDimes are a legal nightmare for them.

Yeah for just 2 guys running a company I've always wondered about that. I have my own community website like BYOND that I'm working towards getting it to go to a Pay Site and I know that if you have a business account, you can setup a validation code from PayPal that returns a correct or incorrect code, to give access to certain areas of the website. I'm sure this could be manipulated to where it would work with BYOND subscriptions. LJR |

Now we need a way to suck the BYONDGoldNuggets out of the icon trading and DBZ games, and make sure they never return to them :P

We're keeping them around for credit purposes (you'll be able to get referral bonuses that way), but we have no plans to reinstate them as a form of currency anytime soon. However, we're working on a system where certain merchants will at least be able to charge for their subscriptions directly, via PayPal. |

Yeah, I want to withdraw mine, but I can't send money using PayPal, so I'll hang on to them for now, I think it's for the best, keep it up Tom. (has to suck up in fear of Tom's Nadrew-Shaped Bag)

Tom, take a look at PayByCash.com http://www.paybycash.com - that may be something to look into as well. Quite a few online gaming communities are now using this system.

The problem with PayPal is that non-American customers can not have their account validized (ie to use their account) without having a credit card number... and credit cards are not that popular in Europe/Germany as in America.
There are easier/cheaper ways to buy things in Germany without cash, but the dependance on credit cards makes it impossible for me to utilize many online services. splatty |

Credit Cards also poses a problem for a lot of kids (Which probably makes up a large portion of the BYOND community).
Even when I was as old as 17 I wouldnt bother to ask my perants if I could borrow a credit card too spend some money on an internet site. Thats probably differnt in America, but in Australia Id say it would still be the norm. |

Well im sorry to see that the people of byond are so imuture. But i cant say i didnt know it was happining. At least a lot of the greed will go away, but i think it will stop the will to work on byond. I suggest having a fake currency at least. Then someone can be stripped of thier currency by any Mod if it is felt nesserary. Just an idea.
