Anyone looking forward to it? i mean come on Massively multiplayer FPS with all-terrain vehicles...
I'm in the beta, as is my brother and uncle. Very very fun.

At one time we had 3000 people on one continent storming only 5 bases. Looked a lot like helms deep or something from one of our watch towers.
No. I would like to see some Massively Multiplayer games that aren't about going around and killing things. But then, going around and killing things seems to be the popular things to do these days.

There are already two, there's a egyptian one which I forget the name and Sims online. I'm not sure about the egyptian one, but the sims online is very boring, so I don't know how fun something that doesn't have a little bit if killing is, which is most likely very little.
I got a friend in the beta, I plan on getting it sooner or later, not quite sure how I plan on paying for a monthly fee yet, but I will figure something out.

The sims are awesome (I never played online, but the PS2 game kept me busy for a week)...
I find the game great... although my favorites are games that actually have relevant, and well planned stories. Sure games like GTA: Vice City and such are fun, but they don't take any thinking.

The sims are ok, but it's very boring doing non-group job stuff, like waiting 3-5 minutes for 35 simoleans from one gnome, and although group jobs are ok they still arn't that great. The good part, like anything sim related, is the customazation and seeing other's houses, I would've like seeing beeing able to change clothes though, but atleast it was a friend's account, so I'm not complaining!

I think I know the one your talking about, the egyption one, im on their freaken mailing list for some odd reason.

Well if you take a game that was designed to be a FPS, and you take out all the killing, no, it won't be much fun. But if you design them for something besides killing, then you might actually get something fun out of it. There were plenty of games for older systems like NES that weren't all about killing things, but you never see anyone making games like them online.

Actually, one game I do seem to recall hearing about was Motor City Online, or something to that effect, which was about customizing and racing a car online. That's the type of Massively Multiplayer game I'm talking about.

It was also a 600 meg download from FILEPLANET(which is gonna take about, oh, 10 hours at the speeds they give you without paying)of all places. Or you had to buy a cd with the game on it and pay for shipping.

The Egyptian game you're thinking of is probably A Tale in the Desert.

And that means what? Everything is that way now. You say it as if it ment something especially bad.

The thing is, there arn't too many games that would work as a MMOG even if they were good as multiplayer. Some would no doubt make good mmogs, but mmogs have to be great to suceed.

Its extremely hard to download 600 megs even over cable, because of A: fileplanet and B: dissconnects.

The Sims games were fairly fun, but the Sims Online was pretty much just stripped down to a graphical build and chat type of thing with advertising :P.

That and games you watch for hours on end with the occasional annoying random battle throw in to confuse the player, forcing them into the realization that they are playing a game.

Personally I don't like any MMORPGs since most of them suck so the big thing is mainly the social interaction and being a person that doesn't like much social interaction that doesn't work for me.

Thats one of my largest complaints.

I seem to be in the minority when I say that I actually like Fileplanet. You may have to wait, but it does share out bandwidth evenly to all comers. If you didn't have to wait, it'd be even slower.

Anyway, if you made a 600mb game that hundreds of people wanted to download, would you really want to host it yourself? One hundred people, 600mb each - that's 60,000mb. Sixty gigs per 100 people. That's a lot of bandwidth to be paying for. Why pay for it yourself when you can get Fileplanet to do it for you?

and B: dissconnects.

Get a download manager. =P

That new star wars MMORPG will have options for players like you, you could be a traveling merchant instead of a merciless bounty hunter or whatever. Even the light jedi arent battle oriented, in fact they heal the sick and deal with diplomatic matters in the game more than combat(Unless of course you go for the totally combat side, then you might as well be a dark jedi, rather a red jedi since their color representation is always red... strange.) Theres also space exploration, intergalactic mining, starting up corporations. Most of the stuff will require lots of time, but so do most starting buisness in real life. Not to mention battle is inevitable at times, but thats why you use your resources to higher protectors, so you don't have to face the battle glorious side of the game. I myself, if I had the money, would buy it and try to become a weaponsmith, or a transport pilot, but thats just me.
