Hi my name is Kevin Smith and I am new to this website. I have already read through the basic Getting Started files and I have a few questions.
I was recently browsing through games to see what kind there are to play and I noticed that Dragonball z is very popular here, I don't really like it in my opinion but that's just me. Im curious though, are there any good places to learn to make games on this? I would like to create something of my own to play.
Oh also I have skimmed through some of the resources but I wonder if there are any tutorials I may look at, and there are alot of demos to search through, can anyone point me to a helpful one? Thanks

Welcome to BYOND!

This is the basic Dantom starter tutorial:

Zilal has some great tutorials:
RPG - http://zilal.byond.com/tutorials/zbt.html
board/strategy games - http://zilal.byond.com/tutorials/zbt2.html
text MUD - http://zilal.byond.com/tutorials/zbt3.html

http://bwicki.byond.com/ByondBwicki.dmb?GettingStarted has some other great resources. :)
The best solution to the "DBZ Plague" is to ignore it, which is what everyone else is learning to do.

Shadowdarke pointed you to plenty of good starter material, and I have to recommend Zilal's ZBT too, because that's where I got started. BYONDscape houses a lot of tutorials, some or most of which don't require a subscription to view. Also try browsing the Developer FAQ and the rest of the ByondBwicki, since it has plenty of useful material if you're willing to wade through it all.
If you or anyone else is wanting to get started on an RPG type game these are the two best ones I used when I was getting started.

Question: Why did you reply to Maz's message?

Who cares.

Because it was the last message on the thread. He's probably using Topic View, like me. =)

Thank you I would like to become a developer here I just lack the current skill to do so. I have been toying around with the dream maker program and have figured out how to define some mobiles, objects, and turfs along with string and integer variables. So this is a start I guess anyway it seems pretty fun. And thanks to you all who provided me with links to some very helpful sites.

When I tried chatters it said one person was using it and they didn't seem to respond. No offense but chatters seems like a pretty boring version of a chat room.
In response to Wizard Of Illusions
That one person was you. In other words, there WAS nobody else to respond to you. =P

If you happen to enter it at a time of day when there's more traffic, it's no more or less boring than any other chatroom. Plus it has more features than most chatrooms. =)
