say you didn't like your current friends just because all they want to do is drink and do drugs (like almost all my friends) where would you look for people that didn't do this?
I mean you can't just go to a store and strike up a conversation with one of the workers, and try finding out if they do stuff like that, but where do people hang in general that I could go to try to meet some new people?

Maybe you could sign up for a fixed-length stint of volunteer work -- a soup kitchen, a political campaign, whatever. The work wouldn't be too hard, you'd be doing something productive, and you'd probably meet many new people. And if you didn't like them, you could move on to something else and meet more new people! | |

Well, I can not stand all these "new-age Gangster druggies". They make me sick to my stomach. I look for friends in my school. I don't look for the popular kids, I look at the unpopular kids. They are the only ones with morals :-P Usually, most of them are friendly... well, not all of them. Some of them hate everyone, but some are really friendly. I moved to a new town about 3 years ago. Basically, I did not bother anyone and they didn't bother me. Well, I got sick of that fast, and started to act goofy (yelling things out in class, being dumb). And, well, humor is a fast way to make friends...

It's all about activities, not location. Join a group that revolves around an activity that you are either already into, or might have some interest in picking up. Bike club Running club Community theater Sports league Art class Martial arts class Book club It's a cinch to make friends in any of these if that's your intention. | |
Well, if all of my close friends started doing drugs (one of them already has) I would simply ignore them completely. I wouldn't find new friends, because who needs them? Personally, I don't need friends.
