Well, since I lost my real computer, and I no longer can use BYOND, except for the forum (Compaq internet PC thing, don't ask), I've decided to purchase a new system. I was thining PS2, since I can play my old PS games on it, and can watch DVD's, and FFX. But, does anyone own any of these systems? Tell me how you feel about each one, because I don't really know much about them.

Its hardware isn't quite as powerful as the Xbox's, but on the other hand, the Xbox can't play PS1 games, and the Xbox controller is a goofy, awkward thing, while the PS2 controller is very comfortable. Also, in August or September, the PS2 will have "The Thing", which picks up where the John Carpenter movie left off. But I think the Xbox will get that too. |

GTA3 is an awesome game, as well, and I wish I had it on Xbox. I do prefer Xbox overall, though. The reason is, I'm looking at coming games as well as existing ones. There are a number of great games already, and there are some amazing (I'm talking "wet-your-pants" amazing) looking things coming down the pipeline. Developers are just starting to figure out how to tap into its potential. By comparison, the PS2's limits have more or less been reached. If you want to run old PS games, you can always pick up a PS1 for $49... the price of a single new game. I also prefer the Xbox controllers. People with smaller hands sometimes think they are "clunky," but that's why they made the smaller optional controller. I've never heard anyone complain about that one, and it feels much more solid than the PS controller to me. |

I myself am going for a Xbox, anyways one of my friends who lives close by has a playstation (even he said to get a xbox) and I can just go over there to play FF11 and 10. Gamecube has some interesting titles, but it doesn't really seem to contain allot of games that would interest older people for along time (there are a couple I do play, like super smash brothers melee). Xbox seems to have a good future in my opinion, along with games such as Project Ego coming out. Playstation 2 has allot of older companies which are pretty good and seems to make games nonstop, moving from project to project. I'm not sure if Gamecube will feature the internet thing, but Xbox and playstation 2 will. |

To each their own, of course, and I would never bash the PS2 console. I've played on one, and it's a terrific machine. GTA3 is an awesome game, as well, and I wish I had it on Xbox. I guess I'm not the only one who thinks the Xbox controller is easy to use.I own a regular PS and can easily plug/unplug either systems also. I have to fully agree with Skysaw. |

Xbox controllers are perfect.a good weight, size, and they keep you from accidently pulling your xbox off something high(assuming its in a high place).

If you accidentally pull too hard in the middle of the game, the cord breaks away, and the game pauses. Then you just reconnect the cord, sit back down, and unpause the game to continue the fun. That's saved more than one Dead or Alive 3 blood night from disaster at my place. |

if the ps2 control is removed in game play, it also stops the game untill you reconect the control. And i dont know if X-box has the problem of having the analoge stick tilted on start up it will make the system thing its side ways when it is not. I know N64 had that problem bad. I like the titles on the PS2 alot better. And my little brother has a milloin PS1 games because the normaly are not to hard, and not to long. But you get PS2 games and they can lost you months(not inclueding over nighters). Take GT3(not GTA3). I have over 3 days of play on that game(as in all the time i have played that game added together), And i only have around 14% of the game beat. I have never met someone who has beat the game. And its always fun to play a friend in arcade mode. And it is one of the most realilistic games ever(not only grafix, but also the way cars run and look i.e. your cars really get dirty.) Well i could go on, but i also want to say, The X-box control is ok. But if you have had a PSX(ps1) as long as i have. You will want a PS2. The controls dont change except for the fact that the buttons are presure sensitive. Great for racing and spiderman. Ah ya i have played spiderman on the gamecube. The control style was easyer, but the controls were clumbsy and took a while to get used to.

I have a ton of PS1 games too, since I still have my original Playstation. I don't play them much, but they're there. Found someone selling a few for $1 each at a yardsale recently, much to my delight. This is another reason I went with Xbox, since the added benefit of playing PS1 games was moot.
I'm sure GT3 must be good, since I played the other two quite a bit. Speaking of Spiderman, have you done an A/B comparison of this title on PS2 vs. Xbox? They added a lot of polish to it for the Xbox, and I have to say it really shows. |

I havent seen Spiderman on the X-Box. Also one big down side to the X-box is that you have to get like a remote or something to play DVDs on it. Which for some is not problem(like me inclueding PS2 we have 3 dvd players in the house), but som dont want to pay $200 and then another $30 jsut to be able to watch DVD's and play video games. Spiderman for the gamecube only had two diffrences, worce grafix, and easyer game play. The easer game play is because the GC is more for kids and people with brand loalty. I mean come on, the CD's are so small, it realy makes a lemit to what they can do. If you want long game play, you loss grafix, if you want good grafix, you loss game play. And you cant play DVD's. Nintendo really screwed that one up.

I picked up the dvd attachement for 19.99 at the local game store. I didn't mind a bit.
The real expense for PS2 users is when they are going to want the HD upgrade. When is PS3 due, anyway? I'll bet that will be a nice system. |
Well...I absolutely have no love for Microsoft..so me giving anything pro-XBox is practically out of the question.
PS2 is my choice. As mentioned by others, it supports about 99% of the PS1 games, plays DVDs, etc. My only complaint is that I kinda miss playing Zelda and Mario Kart....but there are other games that can take their place. |

i havent heard. But im sure it will be nice, you got to think, PS2 is about 1 and a half years old, and the X-box and the GC are about half a year old. And the PS2 still keeps up. Thats a good fact.(im not sure about the dates, im jsut guessing)

I'm talking more in terms of what the hardware can be pushed to do. If PS3 can improve on Xbox (quite possible), and if it can still run PS1/2 games, they'll have a winner. |
