byond is for games, for games, it's for games. stop dragging other issues into byond. it's just games, only for games, this is just for games. you are all teenagers, stop trying to act better then everyone else. everyone has such an additude. you make me sick. why does everyone want to kill eachoter and blame eachoter. it's just for games. only for games. it's a frickin game engine for GAMES SO STOP THE CRAP AND REMEMBER IT'S FOR GAMES

Nonsense, I made a perfectly good map builder with BYOND. That's not a game! (Even though it's primarily designed for MUDs, which are generally used for games.)
Besides, BYOND can be used to build web servers, and most web servers are defenitelly not games. I'd considered making a BYOND-based Database system, but I'm not sure that I'd have enough use for it to make it worthwhile. | |
The Spock dudes right everyone on byond is so uptight, but its about making games,playing them and having fun WITH OTHER PEOPLE THAT LIKE TO make games, play them and have fun.

BYOND is far from "only for games"...
And the Babble forum is even farther from that... The other forums are for discussing BYOND-, and game-related topics... This one is sort of a catch-all for all of the other stuff... That's why it's called "Babble"... We're free to babble in here about anything... But back to BYOND being "only for games"... I think not... BYOND can be used for virtually anything you wish to use it for... Given the time and effort, one could create controlled simulations useful for planning, or research purposes... For instance, a running model of traffic patterns in a city, with real-time capability of building new roads or changing traffic lights...just for the purpose of seeing how things might be altered and improved to the real world equivalent... Or like Foomer said, an interactive database system could be possible through BYOND... Or an architectural design program... Or an online store (not just dealing in BYONDimes)... Or any number of other non-game applications... So one can definitely not say that BYOND is "only for games"... | |
No, let me correct you.
BYOND is for Code stealing, missurable complaining uptight teenagers. This is no-longer a game engine. It's now a DBZ-decrased engine. With Rips of other people's games glore. It also has alot of Thickheaded people, you can explain yourself till your blew in the face and the person your explaining it to will make it look like he is sitting there with a duh look on his face. Everyone trys to be better then everyone, if your better then a person, the person your better then will spam you. Call you a "crappy" coder. It will go on and on. There is also some nice people on BYOND, that help with code problems people are having. Do not / ever will get people to hate another person. It's rather astonishing when you enter games on BYOND and people are swearing at eachother like this - SSJ5 Majin GokuMan: Sudup you funcker!! SSJ 7 GokuMan Majin: WFT!!!!!!!!!! Then you got other people in games - NormalDude: Hey whats everyones level? NorMalDude1: Im level 4, thanks for asking. Very rare do you see any of that on BYOND Another demo of what its like MajinGoku49458: You stole my game! GokuSSJ: Well SSJ8 GohanGoten gave me it saying i can have it!!!! Ok, what I really meant was I was sick of how up tight people were, and how money grubbing they were, and how they try to be "cooler" then everyone else. I'm sure that you can find other uses for it; heck! You can do whatever you have the time for with programming. I just meant that people need to lighten up and stop being so butt sore on BYOND all the time, espically in the games. The so called GM's abuse their power like daddy said don't. I'm really sick of abusive GM's. And I'm sick of people who are always pissed off in games and act rude to you. Like I said, lighten up, it's just a game... er, whatever..
