you say its being held back because of the oil industry like its some conspiracy
In response to VyseDyne
Conspiracy means "group of people who conspire." You don't think the oil companies conspire to keep their interests afloat? Of course they do. They'd be stupid not to. Every other business in the world does. Why do you think they all send lobbyists to Washington?

well as much as people say marijuana is bad it isn't as bad as ppl say. i mean look at who says its bad... the government. the goverment doesn't know crap. They used to circulate pamphlets that sed "marijuana slayer of youth" etc... which told tales like one about a kid who smoked weed and killed his girlfriend. Of course what they forgot to mention is that although high on pot the kid who did it was also bi-polar and diagnosed with other mental and nervous system disorders. gee oops they musta forgot to put that. in fact if we wanna go right back to the real reason why most drugs were made illegal it'd be racism. When hostilty grew towards some asian immigrants opium was outlawed. and then when hostilty towards african americans started so did the ban on cocaine and crack. after the africans and others started using marijuana it too was made illegal. but what wasn't made illegal tobacco why cuz the rich white americans used it thats why. i wrote a letter to my senaters and asked them why marijuana was illegal and they sed it was considered a class 2 drug which means it is addictive and can be deadly over-time. Lets take a look at tobacco its also addictive and deadly. hmmm why isn't tobacco illegal??? answer me that?

why would you want to smoke weed? There's reasons for everything, stupid or smart there's still reasons...

interesting fact about cigerettes...

for every pack of cigerettes smoked by a person that person is costing the average tax payer around 6 dollars in medical expenses.

That's nice, but where can I see a copy of this letter, and its reply?

Gladly. The government earns billions of dollars from the tobacco industry, whilst only losing hundreds of millions from the deaths caused therefrom. The same cannot be said of the marijuana industry, where the income would likely be less than the health costs. Marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug -- it slows reflexes and makes the mind unable to quickly grasp logic. Cigarette smoke does no such thing -- other than causing irreparable tissue damage, cigarettes do little more than make someone irritable if they haven't had their nicotine.

Pair marijuana in high dosages with driving (its illegal status makes it harder to obtain in large quantities, but if it were legal you could obtain much more) and you have something that is little better than alcohol*. That means marijuana-related fatalities would be at a high.

Case in point -- I'd love to see both alcohol and cigarettes illegal, but that just isn't going to happen. I do not support the legality of marijuana in any way. I know a certain parent whose life it has messed up.

* Which also pays the government lots of money. However, the overall deaths caused by alcohol are considerably less than smoking, so good luck trying to convince them to make that illegal.

just so you know, pot was made illigle because of a movie way back when which was kinda like the chik and chong movies are now. People saw it and thought it was like reality. And did you ever see someone get in a car crash because of a cig(and i dont mean lighting one in the car and not payng attention)?

The sad thing is, I think that if you're stupid enough to smoke it, then your mind must contain decent amounts of those "slow" cells. I don't really care if people do it, it's just I think they shouldn't. Oh well, no loss for me.

My thoughts exactely

In certain country I know, when they ran out of weed, they use cow dung and grass...

Or perhaps it enhances subtle, esoteric types of performance that are not graspable by puny "logic".

Heh... I'm being tongue-in-cheek there, but many artsy-fartsy types have made reasonable claims that it can (n.b.: I say can, not inevitably does) awaken or augment their creativity.

heres my letter spuzzum i sent it like 4 months ago and unfortunently deleted the response. i took out the state where i'm from and my senater for the same reason.

I want to know a good reason why marijuana is illegal.
I beleive that their is no real reason. I think the
only reason it was made illegal in the past was to
stop the immigration of certain minorities to certain
areas. After researching I found that studies have
been held about the use of marijauna. I beleive that
there are no extreme dangers from marijuana. I don't
want you to take my word for it I want you to look
into it and prove me wrong. I beleive that there are
three main reasons why the U.S. should legalize
marijuana. One is that if marijuana is legal then it
could put a stop to drug dealers without even touching
them because people would be able to go to legitament
businesses and purchase it, so why would they go to
drug dealers where they don't know if its safe. Which
brings me to my next point, if the goverment were to
legalize marijuana then they could put limits on how
strong it would be etc... and would be able to
regulate the buying and selling of it as they do with
tobacco. It would make sure that only people of a
certain age could purchase it also. Which again brings
me to my last point which is if the goverment
leagalizes marijuana they could tax it much like they
do tobacco and therefore get a huge kickback from it.
Imagine the extra money a year that they'd get from
that. The marijuana industry would be as large as if
not bigger than the tobacco industries. The goverment
would be able to use this money to further better our
great country. Before I end this letter I want you to
know I hope you take this letter seriosly as you read
it because your my representative in a government that
is supposed to be run by the people for the people. As
a citizen of the state of -------- I would like to
have my opinion heard and represented by my senator.
Be the first senator to make a stand and others will
follow. Thank you for your time and a good day to you
