Yes, but in the series they don't tell which androids are really cyborgs and which ones are really androids.

Does it matter? They refereed to Androids 17 and 18 as Androids. So go take your technicalities else where.

Maybe he wants to include cyborgs and androids, I'm sure I would.

I like this idea i will talk to my team about it and see what they say, but what about Cells? He has all the abilities of a saiyan and namek should they be able to get the same abilities?

Cell had the DNA of a lot of fighters, including Freeza. But I don't feel it would be fair for a Android like Cell to have all of the possible good traits with none of the bad.
I suggest if you decide to go with the traits idea, to make it so either you randomly inherit one or you get to pick one. |

Randomness like that is why quite a few anime games here are so bad. No one wants to keep restarting their character until they get a certain path.
If you use more Ki-based attacks then other attacks, have Saiyan-based traits. And so on, make it based off of what you do more, so the player has more control. |

No, the reason why half the Anime games on BYOND are so bad is because half of them are rips. A bit of randomness never hurt a person.
A trait, shouldn't be a determining factor to your character, it should just be a fun little side thing that won't make or break a character. Freeza had a high level of ki manipulation, so why does it have to be Saiyans? Why not Changeling traits? Saiyans are more about brute strength and durability then anything else. |

It was merely an example, I haven't watched DBZ in several years. Traits determine how a character is played, that shouldn't be random.

No, they shouldn't make or break a character. Stop smoking crack.

A trait in my opinion, is something like what determines if your a glass cannon, or a tank. Which would largely differ in gameplay.

This is my concern, that one race might have too much power.I dont want sayains to get too much power even though they are depicted as the dominant race in the Dragon Ball Z Anime. I also fear for the BUU race, because they have "cheating" abilities that everyone loves to abuse. |

My suggestion has nothing to do with power or skills, they're personality traits that affect stat-mods.
Gohan trait affects potential, Goku increases determination, etc. Nothing is changed about the person biologically. It just gives more customization to the player, which is always good, if done right. In terms of abilities I hate restricting players to the characters of the show. It's not realistic at all. If someone wants to learn kamehameha, let them. As long as your systems are good and the character development is fine, you should have no problems. The only skills that should be restricted to specific races would be the actual race skills- Oozaru, SSj, absorb, etc. |

Then don't introduce "uniques" to your game. Characters like Majin Buu and Cell were one of a kind characters. I always felt they shouldn't be available races.

Interesting, but i will disagree with on DBZ being highly flawed. I believe that DBZ sparked the anime world.I believe that anime that you see today (Naruto & Bleach) all originated from DBZ. Every time i see beams shot, i think of dbz ki attacks. Every time i see characters disappear and then appear, i think of DBZ Instant Transmission. I'll have to go with it is highly flawed. Toriyama didn't allow Pan to go Super Saiyan for the simple fact he didn't know "how" females should look in Super Saiyan. A lot of the story line gets a bit contradicting. It did spark though, and is one of the greatest Action Animes. As far as Naruto and Bleach, I don't watch Naruto much, but Bleach follows Rurouni Kenchin/YuYuHakusho a lot more than it would Dragonball/Z/GT. Figure it out, take the swordplay and fighting styles from Rurouni Kenshin with the special abilities, and take the whole "Let's go to the demon world and fight off evil things with our inner spirit powers!" from YuYuHakusho and you have Bleach. I'm not complaining, both Rurouni Kenshin and YuYuHakusho were great anime. Gundam is amazing also. Someone should go ahead and start on a BYOND game based on Giant Mobile Suits. (I'm busy at the moment. xD ) Dragonall was the greatest of all 3 Series. Once Dragonball Z hit, no one was important anymore except Goku. No matter what anyone in the series did, it involved Goku someway. Plus, he gained a massive super boost out of nowhere. And then there is the Super Saiyan ability... <_< I can't remember it exactly, but I believe Vegeta commented on how easily it was to get Super Saiyan after seeing his own son before his teenie bopper years achieve it. Dragonball Z should have been named Dragonball T for Transformation. The races in Dragonball were amazing. Since everyone was near the same 'Powerlevel' it all depended on the fighter themselves. If they were a great fighter, they probably won their match. If they sucked, well, they lost. No one had to worry if their opponent was going to pull out SuperSaiyan x 9,000!!! If you're going to make a Dragonball/Z/GT game, I suggest starting with the Dragonball Elements. -Slow Training, nothing super fast at all. -Very hard to gain Transformations. -A huge variety of attacks, and limit how much/which attacks they can learn or can't learn. Meaning, no matter what Person A does, they won't learn AttackName while Person B is somehow able to. (Races, Random, Age, etc.) -Some fast paced fighting that lasts long. If you notice, rarely any serious fights in Dragonball/Z/GT were slow and short. Let's take the Cell Sagas as an example. Gohan and Cell were moving at super speed, constantly attacking eachother. They suffered damages yes, but it's not like they "1 HIT Knock-Out" the other guy. If one was weaker, they used any means possible to get stronger. I could list more but, I'd be giving my game away... o.o Lmao. |

Hardly sparked, it's just you understandably hang around your generation.
If you look more towards the 25+ age group, you'll see things like Robotech, Fist of the North Star etc being heralded as "sparking the Anime world". They all essentially serve the same purpose, gateway Animes as far as the West treats them. Robotech was truly frightening, considering what it borrowed from, however introduced a generation to Mecha, along with Zeta Gundam. Fist of the North Star (unlike say DBZ) holds a remarkable track record for parody in more modern slice of life Anime, simply because of it's universal success. I mean Tokyo had an actual funeral for Raoh, which was creepily well attended. As far as Japan itself went, DBZ was pretty popular an long-running, but otherwise pretty throw away. What it did was give Toei the "winning" shonen recipe, which they've been churning out ever since, commercial Japan is very happy with it. As someone who enjoys a little variety, I feel it's a shame they've tied up so many artists on that particular line of business, as much as I understand why. |

I will keep those suggestions in mind as i create my game however i disagree with you on :
"Dragonall was the greatest of all 3 Series. Once Dragonball Z hit, no one was important anymore except Goku." Wasn't the entire series about goku, he was the main character from the beginning to the end.The whole story revolves around him, ever since the first episode. "Toriyama didn't allow Pan to go Super Saiyan for the simple fact he didn't know "how" females should look in Super Saiyan." That is so true, thats why its so difficult for females in DBZ games. Was it meant specifically for males because i dont see any woman that played an important role in the entire series. |

Cell: absorb things to obtain power
Saiyan: extreme training and emotions to obtain power Half-Saiyan: technology and training to obtain power Human: technology (eg. scouters and whatnot) to obtain power Android: upgrade parts to obtain power Namek(sp): not sure on this race, TBH. The only Namek I've seen with even a slight fighting ability was Piccolo, and he sucked :\ Just an idea... The half-saiyan race would be a hybrid between the humans and saiyans (obviously), so just do it the same way, but on a smaller scale. |

Saiyan: extreme training and emotions to obtain power I disagree with these, or at least half of them. Gohan was half saiyan where as Vegeta was full saiyan, throughout the series, Gohan was the one constantly getting stronger through emotion, where Vegeta spent a great deal of time in a gravity altered chamber to get stronger. Although I'll grant you that emotions were used to gain the initial super saiyan transformation, but beyond that, it's generally the half saiyans who, when extremely angry, managed to get strong enough to beat most of the opponents. IMO: Saiyan: Extreme training and technology to obtain power. Half-Saiyan: Extreme training and emotion to obtain power. |
