I am one of those people who are very angered when people put tags >:O, its so pointless its just a waste of your time(Im talking to you George Gough and Lummox JR!)

The old posts were brought up, but in simple terms, "no". Signatures are usually irrelevant and usually abused. BYOND already has avatars and a very prominent header that describes who is making the given post; a signature is unnecessary.
I don't personally see anything wrong with signing a post at the bottom with your username, however, since it serves as a reminder, and allows direct copy-paste to include a credit. |

I believe BYOND already has enough sources of unintelligible blather, so there's no reason to go adding another inevitable source of it (take a look at *any* phpbb forum -- most think they're being cute with their signatures, when they're actually just looking like idiots). Most posters already have the inherent ability to lead a topic astray, so what's the purpose of adding the potential for signature wars and the such anyway? I like the BYOND forums for their lack of silly things like signatures, so I don't have to scroll through a half-page of what guilds someone belongs to in header one-sized text to arrive at the content of the next post. |

Personally, I like how gamefaqs.com does their signatures. No images allowed, so usually a funny quote or something is placed there. For example, my signature is:
You shouldn't let your dad touch your Wii - Gidder_elok |

Although it would just be that simple to have it put in there, do we really want people doing it? BYOND's forum system has a very clear header on every post, as well as an avatar, if you happen to be a member.
Combine that with the branch style post listings and it's pretty much impossible to miss who posted what. Add onto that an easy link right to the posters personal blog, where they can have everything they want to tell about themselves right there. It really makes the signatures pointless, and annoying. |

I don't really care either way. People want to sign their posts, let them. Anyone who throws an obnoxious signature at the end of their posts will probably have their post edited/deleted and a warning thrown in their direction when people get bored.
All my little script did was sign the post, sure, it's easy to modify to make more annoying. But at least with that as an option, people will be less inclined to ask for it every three months and this continuous debate can end. That, and it promotes the use of Firefox and Greasemonkey, and that's never a bad thing. =) |

I still say you are being an annoying enabler. You're an enabler Tib.
But seriously, I just find them very, very annoying, and making it easy for people is just not nice. Sure, we could pimp Firefox as an easy way to use Tor to do things illegal/rude online, but that doesn't mean we should. To put it simply, I'm a cranky oldtimer geek that just doesn't want his interwebs changing. GET YOUR SCRIPTS OFF MY LAWN! |

Heh, I was aware of the hippocrisy as I wrote it, but I didn't stop myself.
That's actually out of date, but I'm working on a much better version as we speak. If you use it, look forward to a blog post soon. |

If I didn't write it, someone else would have. To put it simply, I'm a cranky oldtimer geek that just doesn't want his interwebs changing. GET YOUR SCRIPTS OFF MY LAWN! Or you could copy-paste/write out your signature every time you post, lazy bum. :P
