Well, probably not, since most of us have never tried to make a system like that ourselves. We can give you ideas and tips on how you might try to go about it, but as far as "the code", no such thing exists. Just try to break the problem down into the smallest steps you can, and work from there. If you have a specific problem, we can help out a great deal more, but general systems like this aren't something we can just whip up in a 5 minute forum post. :P
You might want to check and see if anyone else has created a system like this. Search the hub, and you might find a library or demo that does just what you want. ~X |

Actually, I am making one right now. It is an "ABS" in every sense of the word too. Characters have a bar, it fills up and then they can take their turn, the faster they are the faster it fills up. Except, the bars are not visible and they don't slowly fill up (so you don't end up waiting 10 seconds for the next bar to fill up and take an action). They instantly fill up depending on who is the fastest in combat.
And I'd agree with you... Honestly the system I've made right now is nowhere near completed, it is lacking a lot of skills and a few other features, and it is relatively untested. And when I look at the coding for it, I kind of cry on the inside, because the coding looks so horrible and nasty and I know I'm going to have to come back to it hundreds of times to add new features/fix bugs, and UGGHHHH I don't like it! And it is definately not some code you can just copy and paste to the forums for people and it will work. But I am in a funny mood today, and I'll probably never actually finish the game or make it playable, so I will post the source code to the battle system. http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/23607/src.rar However, haha. I only included the battle system coding and nothing else... Which includes but is not limited to... The rest of the game, icons and maps. If you actually had all of that, it'd look and work like http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/23607/scc.PNG Feel free to use that coding however you want. Whether it is to directly use it, or to learn from it. But it might not be a good idea to try and learn from it because the coding sucks, is horrible and sloppy to look at and and will probably break fairly easily. |

You probably need to copy and paste the link, but if that still doesn't work then you can try...
