Yes I know, but the ps3 version having mods was irrelevant to clarifying about the status of such feature on the 360.

... So what will 360 owners love about Unreal Tournament III? Rein: It rocks. It's so much fun to play on console. There's a little bit of auto-aim like on Gears... what I like is none of our success on console has affected our games on PC. We have mods on UT for PlayStation3 and... What about the 360 version? Rein: To bring mods to 360, we're going to have to make some serious changes. So you're not going to include them? Rein: Oh, it's going to happen but 360 is a closed system so we have to work with Microsoft on that. ...

I wouldn't mind playing against PS3 players but I don't want to play against PC users. Even with auto-aim on the consoles the PC players still have a massive advantage. I don't mind getting beaten by players using a superior control system but it's no fun when you're just running in to get shredded every round.
Although even playing against PS3 players would suck. Imagine all the fanboy fights that would break out everytime someone mentioned what console they're playing on. I can just picture myself defending the flag alone while the rest of the team stops to yell 'you've got no games' and 'you don't have blu-ray' back and forth for three rounds. Actually, does the PS3 have headsets/voice-chat as standard? I recall hearing something about how any blue-tooth headset working with the PS3, but I've never actually seen that sort of stuff in action. |

The PS3 uses blue-tooth and PS2 USB headsets. Thanks to the Warhawk bundle of a blue-tooth headset with the game, many users now have a headset. I've tried it, and I normally turn my blue-tooth headset on, plug it into the wall, then set it on the ground. Damn kids talking like idiots, I wish there was a way to turn it off on the client end. I normally shut it off in Battlefield.

You can't mute other people's voices? That must suck, a lot.

I never got into the game, but from what I hear the specialty of the game lied in the AI. The enemy move and hid in a smart way. The actively found cover that they could fire from to stay out of your range and they used nades correctly(I was playing some HL2 last night and a combine threw a nade at my face... when I was 2 feet away. It bounced off my face, landed at his feet, I ran back, he blew himself up. You'd never see that in F.E.A.R.)

You probably can, but it's not easy to tell who is talking. Also, it's a pain to stop playing just to mute someone.

Yeah I have the same problem with Gears of War. I find that if I start talking first I can usually spin the chat towards teamwork, but if I don't after thirty seconds someone gets bored and starts talking crap to fill the silence. Once the chat goes bad it's hard to turn it around.
As well as the obvious reasons a teamwork based chat also helps stop people from constantly complaining. They'll still go 'oh man, I can't believe that just happened, that was so cheap!' but instead of complaining for the next five minutes they stop as soon as the action heats back up (you can't complain when you're pinned down and calling out for assistance). |

Aren't epic asking Microsoft to use some of 360's HDD Space? I heard games in the future may require an xbox HDD...

Microsoft are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. They made the promise when the core unit was released that no game would require a HDD* and now they've got to decide whether they want to push the XBOX 360 forward by going back on their word or stick with what they promised and put the games at a disadvantage. It was a bit obvious that this would happen eventually but Microsoft realized that if they didn't release a core (cheap) package the price of the XBOX 360 unit would knock it out of this generation (remember, compared to previous generations even the core XBOX 360 unit is very pricey, the only console it comes off as cheap next to is the PS3). It's pretty clear that this change is inevitable, I just hope Microsoft doesn't try to delay it. Better to face up to it now and let the games start making use of the feature right away than to put it off, let the games suffer, then eventually force the users to go out and get HDD units later on anyway. They're probably just waiting for Sony to pull another bonehead stunt so they can slip it by while everyone is distracted. *well they promised that every XBOX 360 would be able to play every XBOX 360 game. No HDD on the core unit, no HDD required games. |

Commodore 64 FTW! still gots mine and runs at a blazing 1Mhz! can even surf da net, play MUDs, and still have one of the largest game selections ever in the history of computers and game consoles!
unless you have an Amiga- then Amiga FTW! then again, nothing beats realism and 3D than being outdoors! |

They have a new thing now where developers need to put a sticker on the game case if it requires a HD to play or not. Honestly, I haven't used a memory card in almost forever. The least Microsoft could have done was add in a tiny bit of flash memory to the Xbox 360 so people wouldn't need memory cards.
Digital - How did you get your C64 online? I had a C64 and a C128 when I was growing up and I would have defiantly remembered if I could have went online with it. |

Microsoft should have never released a version without a harddrive. It was a mistake that not many people seem to talk about. The best course of action I can think of is to offer a USB harddrive(like they do) for a very low cost(like they don't). A $50 40GB USB drive would be cost effective and simple. Microsoft wouldn't make money on it, but it would keep them out of that rock and hard place.
Microsoft is unlikely to take that move, though. What they should have done, if they really wanted the core without a harddrive is make an easy to access harddrive port that takes a standard drive. Sony was smart enough to do it, so when my 20GB drive in my PS3 proves to be too little(It's already close), I can go and buy any laptop sata drive for an upgrade. All I have to do is pull out the old drive, format the new one, and it's ready to go. Warranty not void. That would have allowed the 360 to go from harddriveless to harddrivefull without costing Microsoft a dime. But I guess they wanted some difference between the core and other one. |
Well yet another reason to keep the wii(at least for you guys); Smashbros Brawl has been confirmed to be online.

Yet it has no voice chat, and the only way of communicating with your friends is via those little custom taunt things.

Like some who have experienced live would say, "at least we don't have to listen to 13 yr olds". Besides that, there's already mics(I think 2) for wii; no telling what will come out in the future between now and the release date.

Well that's why there's a mute button.
I rather have voice chat with a mute button on a console, then no voice chat at all. Especially with a game like Smash Brothers. Though I suppose if people like playing multiplayer games and unable to chat with their friends without some third party chat thing set up, that's ok for them. |
