I just delete my charater by mistake is there a way to get it back ? i work hard for that toon :(
Did you delete it through DM? If so, then I'm afraid that it's pernamently deleted.

Although, no file can ever be fully erased of a harddrive. You have special programs which you can use to find deleted files, although, it's like searching for an needle in a hill of hay. See Google for more info on that.

It's most likely a .dm file.

Which to you, Evilinfiltrator, is a code file. Did you delete a code file?

I think he is refering to having deleted a character save in another game, if thats the case, than its up to the server operator to retrieve the file, or not.
In response to ZeroCrash
yea. however if its not in that case and you may have deleted a .dmi possibly or a .dm containing code for a .dmi you could use a program called datretriv and you may be able to find your character again.

Only on Windows, man. Only on Windows. You can recover almost anything, and just by using the command prompt.

Or maybe he deleted a save file! OMG

That's what he's talking about, I'm sure.

Ehm, "character" probably refers to an icon, likely of a mob.

Ehm, okay, I didn't know you could recover it using the command prompt(not sure if I ever used for whatever issue <.<, I'm not even sure of what it is...) I just once got told that no file is ever fully deleted from a harddrive.

WRONG! Although when you delete a file using Windows, it does leave the file on the system, but you can fully erase a file if you have the right tools. SpyBot comes with a "file shredder" which does a rewrite however many times you want it to, making sure that it is good and cleared. Seems like the FBI's standard rewrite is 3 times, SpyBot defaults at 5. So if the FBI thinks that 3 times is good enough for some of the worlds biggest secrets, than I think you can say that SpyBot's 5 times is "Good and gone".

Sorry, it bothers me when people repeat jibberish. I realize that you, O-matic, probably already knew that it was possible to shred files, but you stated your statement in a way that suggests that "no file can ever be fully erased of[f] a harddrive", which is just plain wrong, and gives people the wrong impression. This guy is likely to tell someone else the same thing, and so the cycle continued

Ehm, sorry. I sometimes am tempted to just write something without re-reading it to make sure it makes some sense. Yes, files can be pernamently shredded, but I was rather reffering to just deleting files. Again, sorry.

Although, I'm pretty sure that I once got told the very same, that "nothing can be pernamently deleted off a harddrive..."

Then why are you guys asking him if he deleted his DM file? Those contain code, unlike the DMI which contains icons. There is a way to recover it. The .rsc file is not very secure.
In response to CaptFalcon33035
Ehm, I was asking if he used the delete file in DM, as in Dream Maker, through it's own 'delete' option. Because deleted files deleted from there don't go to the recycle bin.

If you lost the .dmi file and you haven't done a clean compile, this will get the icon back.
mob
verb
RetrieveIcon()
usr<<ftp('filename.extension')

You probably did. I have been told that many times, by people who knew more and less about computers than me. It is very common, but it does bother me. One of those small things that really shouldn't, but it does. But you point was valid, if he deleted a file, it is possible for him to recover it(Although there is a chance that he won't be able to). Problem is, nobody seems to have a clue what he really deleted.

Those things often bother me too, though -- first getting misinformed and then spreading that invalid information. Ironic thing is, that it occurs more to me than when I have a go at others like when they are spreading invalid information, like you did.
