I hate you. Not for the silly fangames (ironic statement neh?) but because you used the term 'coding' instead of the proper term 'programming' (see last bracket comment). Isn't the proper term "hacking" if you wanna get right down to it? |

Isn't the proper term "hacking" if you wanna get right down to it? not necessarily - though you can, in principle, interchange the two in conversation: From the Hacker's Dictionary: "hacking /n./ Hacking might be characterized as 'an appropriate application of ingenuity'. Whether the result is a quick-and-dirty patchwork job or a carefully crafted work of art, you have to admire the cleverness that went into it." "programming /n./ 1. The art of debugging a blank sheet of paper (or, in these days of on-line editing, the art of debugging an empty file). "Bloody instructions which, being taught, return to plague their inventor" ("Macbeth", Act 1, Scene 7) 2. A pastime similar to banging one's head against a wall, but with fewer opportunities for reward. 3. The most fun you can have with your clothes on (although clothes are not mandatory)." contrast this with terms like: "voodoo programming: n. 1. The use by guess or cookbook of an obscure or hairy system, feature, or algorithm that one does not truly understand. The implication is that the technique may not work, and if it doesn't, one will never know why. Almost synonymous with black magic, except that black magic typically isn't documented and nobody understands it. 2. Things programmers do that they know shouldn't work but they try anyway, and which sometimes actually work, such as recompiling everything." and one of my favorites: "casting the runes: n. What a guru does when you ask him or her to run a particular program and type at it because it never works for anyone else; esp. used when nobody can ever see what the guru is doing different from what J. Random Luser does. A correspondent from England tells us that one of ICL's most talented systems designers used to be called out occasionally to service machines which the field circus had given up on. Since he knew the design inside out, he could often find faults simply by listening to a quick outline of the symptoms. He used to play on this by going to some site where the field circus had just spent the last two weeks solid trying to find a fault, and spreading a diagram of the system out on a table top. He'd then shake some chicken bones and cast them over the diagram, peer at the bones intently for a minute, and then tell them that a certain module needed replacing. The system would start working again immediately upon the replacement." |

Winners don't use drugs.
Or in this case, Winners don't use librarys. This is the only time I want LRS back at the top spot, SO everyone vote to get that piece of s***e off the sacred top 100. Fangames using librarys don't deserve even the owner playing it. |

Some libraries are very useful to use, like HTMLlib... but games that needs to use basic "libraries" which could've been made easily should die >_>

Yeah, I should of been more specific there.

OK, so if someone made put this oh-so-simple code...
mob (Which is pointless anyway) Into a library of its own, people can use it? Actually, I can see a use in it. All those idiots not using ..() is just stupid. |

Don't tread on programmers who use the resources available to them. It's called being resourceful. When they are ready, they will expand upon this simple library to better suit their needs.
If there is anyone to smite for those simple libraries, it should be the creators. They are spamming the hub with 5 second entries. The people who use them are just making them useful; making them feel a little less like spam. |

They'd get flamed to hell. I doubt anyone would make the library. If it were to occur, however, people can use it if they wanted to. Don't blame the user, blame the creator.
Besides, that does NOT classify as a library anyway. |

Actually I was working on my game as I was posting this.. A car-accidents also isn't what cars are made for. Petition for making car-driving and -producing for the win? I mean no disrespect but if hounding ever post on the forum is byond staff job why not hound all the games.. there're less of those ;) A creator of an axe will definitely not hunt someone down who used that axe to badly hurt someone. Why would the staff? I mean scroll down the pages of Naruto games... 90% of them actually SAY they're a rip.. That's an improvement, actually. I always used to see "100% zeta-free11!" while it is absolutely untrue. like that one "It's Izou... but better" or "Yes this is a rip but give it a try".. Its easy to pick em out, however DBZ rippers have a little more in their head and don't put that on the hub info, maybe on the inside. Worst come to worst, BYOND could get some actual staff who feel like doing some work and fixing this problem and go into games and see if they're a rip.. It takes about 10 seconds depending on your connection speed. Rips are easily identified, just try it one day.. look for the original Zeta so you know what it is (if you don't) then join 5 Hosted Dragonball Z games and tell me you can't tell they're rips from the beginning. Something has really hit you in the head. What part of "what you are asking is akin to gun makers being responsible for killing people, car makers banning people from driving because they might cause accidents, or McDonalds being responsible for fat people stuffing their faces. this is neither practical nor easy to control, and it is not the responsibility of the maker about how the product is used." didn't you understand? Avoiding words is no option in a discussion. And im not asking gun makers to be responsible for killing people, I'm asking (bare with me) Someone to be responsible for seeing someone walking around with a gun and do something about it instead of just going "ooo look at him kill other people" Ehm, no, you are asking the staff to be responsible for the rips that are created with their software. And according to that example, the staff are the gun-makers. Anyway, all rips are doing is DOOND (Destroying Our Own Net Dreams).. I'll jump of a bridge if you manage to explain what the heck you are trying to say with that and prove it to be true. O-matic |

When the hell did this voting system come about anyways? It clearly doesnt represent the best games on BYOND, its just the next BYONDimes incident waiting to happen. True but I was trying to refer to the "libraries" that really should be under "demos"... I forgot a very good example of one >_< But you're right nonetheless.
