There's no way I'm spending $500 on a graphics card. I've gotta save up for a PS3. =D

You could get yourself a 9800se (closer to $100) and softmod it to a 9800Pro ,which is what I did, and I can run HL2 with hdr on full and models, textures, and shaders on high. Of course I must be pretty damn lucky to get a perfectly fine 9800SE... Or maybe you could get a x800GTO2, flash it, and overclock the baby faster than an Nvidia 7800. Also, I really doubt that the 6800 is $70-100... last time I checked it was a tad more than just 100 bucks.

Depends on income. I'll probably find a good deal somewhere. I want to actually buy with with a fan on it already, though. Know any good, cheap ones with a fan attached to it? I really just want to be able to play CS: Source without frame delay. I like console more.

I would suggest getting an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT, because its worth every penny, and delivers amazing graphics at an affordable price (though subjective). If you really want to go high-end, you can go buy a 6800 GT, or even the newer 7800 GTs or GTXs, though they can go up to 500 dollars in price. Well I bought a PNY Verto GeForce 6800 GS Video Card, PCI Express, 256MB DDR3 from CompUSA last weekend to finish off building my new computer and it is now $279.99, but I got $80 bucks off from rebates. $50/80 was instant rebate... =D It was worth every penny to me. Not the top 'o the line, but close. I can run Battlefield 2 with everything set to max and no slowdowns. (Probably because of the AMD 3700+ San Diego Processor *gloat*).. I still need to see how fast it takes Quake 4... |
