I'm currently turning my BYOND game, warhem, into a java game, and I need some java developers to help me out. It would be useful if you were good with components and such, and decent with Sockets, I already have some parts of the game ready for the world to see, you first have to register though! The Site, it uses the same icons from the BYOND game, for now I'd say it's still in Alpha. The game is a MMORPG, with semi forced rolepaying. I have just about all the icons already, so we don't have to worry about that. I already have a chat system, and statpanels to display the users stats, and there is walking with a neat map system(I'll explain how to make maps later).
You must have some example of your java works, to prove that you know a good portion of the language.

Please don't post non-BYOND-related job offers in the classified ads forum, thank you.
|
Last time I checked, the Classified Ads didn't say it had to be BYOND related. Notice how the forum category BYOND Features, says BYOND. Classified Ads does not say, BYOND Classified Ads. Now I would appreciate it if you moved my post back to Classified Ads.

_>I read the community standards right now, and it doesn't say it has to be BYOND specific. It's a little too vague. Maybe you should change it around? (I read this) |

I went to far? I don't really see how I did. Was I too mean? xD No. You NEVER tell a mod/admin what to do. |
Classified Ads
This is a good place to advertise your skills (as a coder, icon designer, etc) or request help from others to fill certain needs. Conversation should be kept to a minimum here. It is indirectly about BYOND, because it's based off of a BYOND game. it's just being turned into java. |
So if an admin were to abuse (I wouldn't call this abusing), I shouldn't tell him to stop abusing? And do absolutely nothing? Such as, if Nadrew say, accidently deleted someones byond membership (he didn't really), I shouldn't tell him to give it back? These are just examples, but still. I'd call it more of a suggestion, because it does belong in the classified ads.

no it does not. the classified ads is meant for BYOND-related concerns. if you need Java-help got to a Java forum. i would bet you would get the same response if you posted a 'i need help with a BYOND game' in a Java forum.
Java stuff, unrelated to BYOND (and you are porting your game to Java, *not* mixing Java and BYOND), should go in a Java forum, or (as Nadrew rightfully did in moving the thread) here in Community which is meant for more general topics and not necessarily BYOND specific. end of discussion, please. |
I agree, but it does not state that is for BYOND only things. Although it is implied, you cannot reprimand someone for rules that only exist in the ether. I think that moving the thread would be sufficient, no need to verbally reprimand. Also, this might be a good time to update community standards and category summary.
I guess if it was moved without a reason, than Buzzyboy would probably wonder why, but the way Nadrew stated his reasoning made it sound as if Buzzyboy did something directly wrong, and implied that he might do it again. The more proper way of doing it was saying something like this: "Your thread was moved because "Classified Ads" is aimed for BYOND related projects, and although you are dealing with BYOND, you are not dealing with any aspect that relates to this community or the BYOND suite." Ok, so I am not an expert at the English language, but you get the idea. Even what, digitalmouse you said would have sufficed. You gave a short summery of why his post was not in the correct location, and did not project a rude "tone", only an authoritative one. I realize that you said "end of discussion, please." but I felt that this should be said, and I will understand if you delete my post. |
