I've got an old computer hooked up, and installed Byond. I don't have a mouse that will function with it however, so I need to know a few things about how to get around using the keyboard.

I'm using an older Byond version (341), but I'm guessing it should be similar. My biggest issue at the moment, is changing the caret focus from the text entry box to any of the standard tabs, ie, 'pager', 'hub', etc. Ctrl-2 seems to open and close the browser tab, though I can't seem to move the focus to the browser entry box.

Yeah, this is pretty sad :P

Any help?
Just buy a mouse, heck you could probably find another yard sale nearby and buy one for like a dollar :P

I bet you have relatives that have leftover mice in the attict or something.

I have a feeling the mouse port on his computer doesn't work. If you have an empty USB port you could just buy a USB mouse... they're fairly cheap too.

If it's what would be described as "an older computer", it's not likely to have USB ports.
depending on the version of Windows you use, you might be able to use the 'hanidcapped mouse' which essentially uses your arrow keys to move the mouse around. and i think you can set an extra key or two so that- for example- CTRL-Arrows move the mouse, CTRL-space for left mouse button, etc. check out your Contral Panel (or maybe even the Mouse subpanel) to see if you can use these features. i recall Win98SE and WinXP should have these as standard unless you did a custom install.

I have mice in my attic. They are quite annoying when I sleep.

Why don't you just purchase a mouse.. or use tab alot. BYOND without a mouse. Sounds like fun

Exactly. Nor does it even have a PS/2 port, which is the oldest connector type I could find on a modern mouse. I do have a PS/2 to serial converter, but the mouse still isn't being recognized. I'm not sure if it's the serial port itself, or if I just need to dig up an older mouse. Or a newer computer :P

Sweet :) Thanks a lot, that works great. A bit annoying to use, but far less so than tabbing through a hundred or so hyperlinks to get to the one I want :P

If you get Firefox you can just type in the text of the link and firefox will automatically select it for you. :)

Nice, though Firefox claims to require a P233, and recommends a P500. I'm downloading that and Opera to see which of them seems to work better on this high quality machine :P
