Why would your school require you to have IDs :P?

My school gives each student an ID card, but they're pretty useless. You only need them if you forgot your lunch money so you can charge, or if you forgot your locker combonation.

Ok, well that we have to see, but I think good ol' Sariat is up for some good this time. :)

Good for you, and I say this seriously. We had to wear these tags around our necks in one of my school districts(This was a school district with a few hundred people total, mind you) for "security" purposes. They had our lunch tied into those, which was the only practical use of them, yet we would get suspended if caught with them off. I hope it goes well, and you should probably ensure they will all go through with it and not just say they will =P

That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

No offense meant, though. :P
I'm sick to hell of all of these new "bright ideas" schools have been getting about various things, including my own.

Good luck... If only you could go much larger than 200, you'd force them to change their policy because of community outrage.
Hmmmm.... Do you think an entire school system forced to wear uniforms (each school is public) is reason to start a protest? I though of getting some of my friends to get their friends to get their friends, etc. to go to school without the uniform, but I don't want to be suspended for something that people think is pointless...

Not really. School uniforms aren't anywhere near as bad as entire classes getting punished for what one person does. Trying to get it changed is fine though. :)
Find out what the reason the uniforms are there for, and find and suggest alternate solutions.

True, but the uniforms suck.
1. Your shoes must be white or black
2. Your jacket cant have a hood (even if its raining)
3. Your shirt must be white or blue, without logo
4. Your pants must be kacky(sp?) or black, without logo
5. Any undershirt you wear has to be white
6. No necklaces
7. No peircings except in your ears (and guys cant have
that)
8. No bracelets/watches
And there are even more rules than that, I just can't remember them all.

You know, this is one of those times where im definately happy im finishing my education in Europe. Not that its all too relevant to this discussion, I'll plop in a bit of info on how it is in Denmark:

School is mandatory by law. If at the point you finish 9th grade you do not wish to continue school (to what I can't describe better than "pre-College"), you HAVE to work. Im not sure how things are in the US since I haven't really gotten into the system after moving away, but if school isn't mandatory does that mean technically you can stay out of school / work your entire life?

We get ID cards at all schools in Denmark after 9th grade, no matter what line of education. Something called a Student ID Card, which gives discounts in stores, transport/travel and allows you to get government funding after you reach the age of 18 (Between $200 and up to about $500 depending on your financial situation. System to support young adults living alone and studying an education post 9th-grade).

Short blurb about Denmark -> Over :)

I say go for it. Collective punishment shouldn't exist in a situation like that (I can think of very few situations where I'd call it a benefit), and if theres one thing I've learned after going to Gymnasium (no, not a Gym :P) its that protesting works. The government wanted to up the size of allowed students per class from 28 to 32 in Gymnasium, and they did. After 2 weeks of protests where students closed gymnasiums by camping there overnight, refusing to go to class etc. from virtually every gymnasium in Denmark, they withdrew the change. This might not be on exactly the same scale, but if you keep silent no one will have to consider if what they are doing is right or wrong.

Good luck in any case.

Like jon said, a protest is a bit much. I agree that uniforms are very annoying. My Jr High had uniforms in 7th grade, and the uniforms looked terrible... It just made people look bad and become more uncomfortable about the way they looked, in a time when that was what was on the top of everyone's minds. On top of that, 1/4th of the kids became "opt out" because "their families were poor"... If you do uniforms, you better at least make EVERYONE wear them.

Does your shir thave to be polo?

*shudders*

There aren't anyone in their right minds that would wear the polo uniform shirts. THey are uncomfortable and ugly. At least let them wear uniforms that make them look good.

Well, its a little bit of A and a little bit of B.
Rig the classrooms with C4 Explosives and threaten to blow the place up unless your demands are met, but hey thats just my opinion.

No piercings, so wait if you've got your eyebrow pierced are you supposed to like REFILL the hole?
Well about 1/4 to a 1/2 of the school was protesting by wearing black arm bands and stickers that said "NO ID" and people even put "NO ID" on thier cars with shoe polish and somebody even put signs infront of the school that said "Da Ribbon = No ID" and "NO ID DAY!!!" Which was pretty great. They said that it might air and it might not. But I don't care. I got the news to come to the school in less than a week. People all over the school were raving about this. Dang, and I thought I was popular before!

Wait, school isn't mandatory in America?

Weird.

No wonder I see all those references here to home schooling.

What is home schooling exactly?
Is it private tutoring, or your parents teaching you?
In response to Elation
School isn't mandatory once you turn 16(at least thats how it is in TN, some states have lower drop-out ages, some have higher). And in home school, you still learn the stuff, you just do it at home without the distractions of other kids (of course, I think you knew that and are just trying to be funny)
In response to Sariat
Who knows, this thingcould end up in front of the supreme court(if you're american) and we'll be seeing your face on the news in a little bit. If that happens, you're bound to win.
In response to Sariat
Sounds like a nice protest! Did it work?

Nah, I wouldn't know. Over in sunny England we all go to school, and we get caned if we don't.

I still have the marks where took a day off from a crippling illness- my headteacher took out the rocket launcher and tried to exterminate me!

(no joke)

Yes, I'm sure most people will just fly at the oppurtunity to be treated like a terrorist.
Just as an FYI, most countries don't want to negotiate with terrorists.
