I actually recall reading something like that... I definitely think Super Mario 64 had would have been a great engine for some deathmatch/free-for-all modes. :P

It's got the entire old game, but with far better graphics, and many new levels, and 150 stars to get. It's also got 4 player, simulataneous, running around. Doing stuff. That I'm not quite sure of, I must do my research. The Mario Kart is completely new, but also has tracks from the SNES and N64 game, and, although the second screen use is, right now, dissappointingly only for a map, it should be a darn good game. Wireless, 16 player Mario Kart against people you have never met before? Yum. |

And even so, how bad could Mario 64 be, while riding on the bus? Even better, how bad could Mario 64 X 4 be, while riding on the bus, PLAYING AGAINST THE BUS DRIVER? (although that might be a little dangerous) I think that's only if the ppl playing are within your wireless comm. range. And it's NOT online. Still, wouldn't you want to play during an important exam? I'd give you lots of money if you pulled it off. (with sound on!) The DS IS online, but not for everything. Heh...imagine playing Mario Kart in assembly? Or class? Or the office? Nintendo are looking into film interactivity- bringing your DS into certain films will let you, for example, if watching a future pokemon film, to download and capture new pokemon! (lyke omg how cool?!?!) DS is also being released free with "Picto-chat", a messenging program, albeit where you draw your message, so it could have pictures too. (And I'm on the the gifted and talented list, and I pick DS) |

Heh...imagine playing Mario Kart in assembly? That would be a pretty expensive addition to the school's confiscated goods locker. |

Hah, this "N-GAGE"? Heh. My friend has an N-Gage. It's not bad, except it looks like a digital taco and it crashes quite often. (A phone crashing. Yeah.) The good thing about having everything-in-one is that you can carry it around more easily, plus you only have to buy one device instead of three different ones. His N-Gage does crash a fair bit, though. =P |

Argh, everyone, it's not Mario 64. Yes, it is. It's Mario 64 X 4. See? You just said it. "Mario 64." If I say, "I'm going to go play Mario Kart" with reference to my N64, I'm not wrong or incorrect for not saying "Mario Kart 64." If I'm going to play a Zelda game, I usually just say, "I'm going to play Zelda." If you want to try to be pedantic and insist on the full title... you're still wrong. Try "Super Mario 64 x 4." If you're going to be nitpicky and insist on the full title, make sure you've got it yourself. |

Hedgemistress, I was trying to communicate that it was not just the game ported, there have been significant changes.
Anyway, I don't think you should say "I'm going to play Mario 64" in reference to another Mario game, it's like saying "I'm going to go play "A Link to the Past", when you are actually going to play "Minish cap". Gah. Agree with me, regardless, damn it! (personally, I think it shouldn't be Super at all, considering the SNES went out a while back. It should be "DS Mario 64 X 4". Or "Dual Mario". Maybe.) Agree! --- Kholint |

Yeah, I played on an N-Gage once. It was a nice little novelty, looking at a phone showing shiny polygons, but really, it can't be done.
Like you said, a phone crashing is silly. When a phone starts crashing, I'd call it a games console, and they should ditch the whole phoning people completely. What if it crashed while you were phoning the boss? "Buy Buy Buy! Se-" *dooooo* There you go, your stocks and shares fail! Also, Multiplayer, arguably the best gaming experience (and one that hand helds should draw on, being incapable of 100+ hour RPGs stored on disc...well, until recently...) is a little hard to take advantage of with an N-Gage. How many people will own an N-Gage, instead of another phone? Too much competition on the phone market, see? (whereas the DS and PSP will, for example, have 50% of all handheld owners having either one, so chances are you'll have a friend or two to play with) --- Kholint |

Anyway, I don't think you should say "I'm going to play Mario 64" in reference to another Mario game, it's like saying "I'm going to go play "A Link to the Past", when you are actually going to play "Minish cap". It's not like that at all, since "Minish cap" doesn't have "A Link to the Past" as the major component in its title. It's more like saying "I'm going to go play Sim City 2000" when you're going to go play Sim City 2000 Network Edition. Since it's 1) a version of Mario 64 and 2) the only one that's been announced for the DS, saying "I can't wait to get Mario 64 for the DS" is both clear and accurate. And yes, the "Super" in "Super Mario" has nothing to do with the Super Nintendo... it originally refered to the "big" Mario under the effects of a super mushroom back in the first Super Mario Bros. game, which was an eight bit arcade classic, and now kind of refers to the idea of Mario as a dimension-hopping superhero rather than a simple blue collar worker trying to make an honest buck despite the proliferation of apes, turtles, crabs, and evil slinkies and eggplants with football helmets (what the hell were the bad guys in Wrecking Crew supposed to be, anyway??) |
