Sounds to me more like you are the weird one, since you are of the minority of people with decent service. Plus, I have to say that when I used SBC DSL(Before Yahoo got involved.) it had happened to be the crappiest service ever. The DSL box went out at least twice a month for the first 2 months, then they finally gave us a decent one that lasted 6 months. Even though the box lasted much longer than before it was very inconsistent service at peak, and irregular times. It was the most frustrating internet service I had ever had, and we were even supposed to get a better warranted service contract since my mom had just retired after 25 years of work for SBC.

My saying is, you get what you pay for, and appearntly Yahoo SBC is crap. What can you expect from Yahoo? =P Mod edit: Changed DM tags to TT tags to prevent board stretching. |

It's not, crap. You just like Time Warner because they own everything... >=( ~Kujila |

Ya, I've been using SBC Yahoo DSL for 4 years now(we started when it was still ameritech) and it's always been great. I mean, we used to have frequent problems with the DSL and windows ME(The DSL wouldn't work after a crash and that piece of crap comp crashed a whole lot). On the other hand, all I had to do to fix it was get behind the computer, take the cord out, and put the cord right back in. I didn't even have to restart the computer!
Last week, we installed my brothers late '02 Windows XP computer as the family computer since he got a laptop for college. Previously, the DSL wasn't hooked up on his computer, so I had to install the DSL. We put in the installation disk, but it would just turn on and give you a completely yellow window on the screen. I called their tech support and got a guy named "Kevin", which I think he might have chosen to be user-friendly since he had a middle-eastern accent. I could understand everything he said perfectly. At first, he said to close all windows on the screen and try the CD again. I did it(skepticly because it never works to close all the windows). Naturally, that didn't work, so the guy said he would put me on hold to check his resources, got back on in about a minute, and had the answer. Actually, the problem was that I didn't need the disc since I was using windows XP and it had the WAN miniport/PPPOE and could install the DSL itself. Also, the problem we had w/ the last computer was evidently a problem with the computer because it works fine now. The point of the above story is, the 24/7 tech support was helpful AND the DSL has about a speed of 250(Not as fast as it could be but still decently fast). |
