I realize that the idea of gods as admins has long been used, but i have took it one step further. Http://www.scoobsvill.com/gods.html
I would love to see this in a game.
Whoa, thats like the entire concept I thought up 3 years ago =P, and I'm currently working on it again too. Its not exactly the idea, I had only gods, but past that its exactly the idea. If my project gets off the ground for once, maybe we will get to see this in action after all!

Off topic, sorry:

Darkness is back! You had better have FQO near completion or I'm gonna go inane. Not good!

-LoW, who hasn't heard from Darkness in too long.
Cool scheme. I think it would work better as God, Champion, Hero, Knight instead of God, Hero, Knight, Man. Unless of course Man isn't a level of GM, in which case I'd change Hero to Champion (That way you can be "Champion of Damaclues, the God of Chaos", since Hero wouldn't make much sense there)
Also, for the god's I wouldn't make it so that each god is a specific GM, I'd give all GM's control over all God's. That way you won't have to pray to the god of War because the god of peace is offline.
That would mean adding some notation system's to the GM system. Ie, you click a player and see short text message about their interaction's with the god your controlling, which you can edit. Also a similar text message for what the god is like.

Another cool idea for this would be a "Mount Olympus", home of the God's. Basically a meeting place for the God's (Who would otherwise hang out in their temples).
It could really spice up the whole "death" scene aswell.
This is a pretty cool idea, I'd be willing to code it if I had icons for it. I'd love playing a game like this, and probably love making one even more.

Although i see your point, a God would be someone you trusted to as a GM. And Taking GM powers away from the gods would ruin the system and just make it a system of role-playing power. But the whole point in what i did was to allow for GM's to be put into a role-playing experience rather than have them stick out like a sore thumb.
My game, veritas uses an avatar system, and this has been done before (look at muds like Dragonstone) The plot of the game goes basically like this: the goddess summons everyone (players) to a banquet, and feeds them ambrosia, making them half-gods. She then implants their souls into new bodies, and throws them into a realm in danger. Their job is to save it.

The admins are like any other player (avatar), but the ambrosia stayed in their bloodstream. Their souls can now leave their bodies at any time they wish, which gives god-like powers... post more later...

As i said, use GMs as gods is not my idea, but the way i have broke it down into classes allowing for the best role-playing experience is.
