I have noticed several individuals that have emerged from the dark, evil shadows of the non-BYOND world (joke), that have already started making impacts on the BYOND community, trying as hard as they can to become another Lummox JR.

Is there anybody in particular that you have noticed making the big jump from DBZ-er to newb, or even newb to semi-demi-skilled coder?

I think Aridale is one of these newbs, soon to make the jump.

P.s. If anyone know how to change Key names, or delete keys so that I can make a new one, without making a new email address, I would be eternally grateful.
I think your classification system is flawed from the outset by even using the term "newb". The correct term is "newbie"; "newb" is just a derogatory term, or is used that way at least by those who picked it up.

There is no real jump. Most of the people that were real successful with quickly picking up BYOND had years of programming experience in another language so learning BYOND was just a matter of dealing with a slghtly different syntax. All the people new to programming in general are probably still in the process of learning a lot about the basics.

I think your classification system is flawed just the same if you are under the false impression that newb or newbie are any different in regards to being derogatory or not. It's safe to say that any word that can be popularly taken offensively is derogatory already.

Not necessarily; some people consider "newbie" an insult because they have no real understanding of what a newbie is. But then those tend to be the same people who use "newb" to shorten it to a 4-letter word. To them it just becomes something to call someone to put them down, not just a mere statement that a person is new.

I think you took me wrong. When I said newb, I meant in the context of being a newbie, as in being new, and making inexperienced mistakes and such.

I was not trying to insult anybody!

Newbie - Someone who is new to something. For example, I'm a newbie at using Linux.

Newb - Shortened version of newbie used by lazy people. Some people consider it offensive, and some don't.

n00b - If it's in l33tspeak, it's probably offensive. Enough said.

If this forum had signatures, those definitions would be in mine.

No real jump my bum. I came to BYOND from RM2k. And look at me now! I've finished a game! It's a fully original arcade style game called pacman! =P
Surprisingly enough, there are a lot of people who used to spend most of the time playing/making DBZ games, that decided to program other games.
