I hate page alls. its a usefull feature that is abused.

your a newbie who beleives everythings spamming ppl tell about their games over mass pages THATS WHAT ITS FOR you dont like it find another program that doesnt have mass pages or ban everyone on your pager who mass pages cause i know im not the only one u got

You WERE abusing the page alls, and I asked you to either stop doing page alls or take me off your pager list. Whats so noobish with that? For one, you didnt even know what watching meant, so then I could say whos the newbie now? But I'm not going to, I'll let you figure out what you did wrong on your own.

Rule number 2, do not mass pager all who don't want to get mass paged

Sage_Turak, you do realize that by posting what you just did made this entire community(well those in the community with common sense) dislike you very much. Nobody, I mean nobody, likes a smart mouth who abuses page all and then acts like its a ok thing to do, then tries to put down the person who complains, besides page alls just waste dantom's bandwith and if your doing it to someone who doesn't want it, you should stop.

1) Jot is not a newbie, he's been here for well over a year.

2) Page-to-alls are annoying, and are probably going to be removed in the next version.

3) I've already pager banned you twice for doing it.

4) It is spam the way you do it, which is BYOND bannable.

At no point have all the people on your pager list ever said that they are interested in your game and want to be informed of it in detail. Furthermore, by your game's simple existence on a server, anyone is free to go to the BYOND.Raw listings and be informed of it without requiring any pages to be sent.

That said, I think that sending single page-to-all messages is mostly harmless. When people page entire conversations to all, that's just insane, though.

You're in no position to call someone a newbie when you speak like THAT. So be mature, don't abuse page-alls, only send ONE an hour, and conserve bandwidth.

Page-alls are spam, pure and simple. Never ever send something to everyone on your list.

As someone who's used multiple-recipient pages, and who's seen them widely abused, I can tell you where to draw the line.

  • Don't send to everyone; send only to people you know are interested in what you're sending, or who you think are very likely to be interested.
  • Don't append "(sent to all)" to your pages or say "Hey everyone" or anything of the kind; it's like tattooing TELEMARKETER to your forehead. It shows you broke rule #1 and actually sent the message to everybody, and that means by extension that you're not even thinking about how people might react negatively to the message.
  • It's best to send to just a few people. I've never paged more than three at a time, and then only because I basically had the same thing to say to them all.
  • Keep your message short, and make it clear that this is just a "courtesy call". "I thought you might be interested in the ___ game I'm working on. If you're not busy I'd love to have some people pop in and test it." Even an "Are you busy?" can be good.
  • Always always always be courteous. Assume that you may be interrupting the other person in the middle of something, because chances are you will be.
  • If someone asks you not to send them pages of that type again (i.e., "I don't give a crap about DBZ" or "Thanks, but I only play action games"), stop sending those to them. A short apology for disturbing them also goes over well. Make a note to be extra respectful of their patience the next time you send them a page.
  • The worse a person reacts, the more you should try to smooth things over and avoid bugging them in the future.
  • Remember that some people will ban instantly in response to a page-all, because they've gotten to be that much of a nuisance. This is how annoyed people can get with it.

    Keep those in mind and you'll live longer. I've had to ban too many people from my pager because they've been such jerks about their "right" to abuse my time. You'll find more and more people doing that as time goes on.

I Would rather prefer it if they Said Sent to all Or such cause often times I get them and think there talking to me rather then a group... So confusing >.<

The point is that a group page shouldn't advertise itself as one, though; if your page looks like a one-on-one, it will be better received. And (sent to all) indicates that the person has indeed sent out their page totally indiscriminately and just isn't paying attention to whether people want the message or not.

Advising people of games is NOT what the pager is for. The pager is used to arrange to meet people in a game.
