i love link to the past. i think it is the best game of the zelda series. in fact i remember in when me and my friends would come over (like 8 people) and just play that game. once this one guy pulled out the game and it erased our data. so we beat him up!

ehm but on with the question

i hear there will be multiplayer support. now zelda is a storyline that advances over time. if a player starts a new game while another player is in the darkworld dealing with the 7 sages and they link up, what the hells gonna happen? i did hear that there will be new mutliplayer quests needing multiple people to do. but still what were the guys at nintendo thinking!

2 player link vs link fight would kick ass thought
It will wait for the person to restart the game, then it will start both games as multiplayer.

no i mean, i know they will restart as multi, but someone further in the game meeting someone who just started, with no restrictions. couldnt at some point the further player do something that would allow the not so far player to get in a spot where something would go wrong in the story?

No, it would force the further player to start a new game, each game is marked as "Multi" or "Single", if one person is in "Single" they will be forced to start a new "Multi".

In the GBA game, there are two modes.

a) Link to the Past mode(1 player)
b) The 4 Sword(4 players max)

You have to all start at the start and no one can join the game after you start unless you restart the whole thing.

Being that I own the game, and bought three copies for my friends, I figured I should reply.

Link to the Past has changed very little except with the addition of better sound effects, and an expanded status screen. There has been a few major additions, including a new dungeon, which, from what I hear, is extremely challenging.

As far as multiplayer action, Four Swords is very fun. It introduces a slightly new system, in the fact that you have a swapable item space. Rather than collecting items through the game, you swap items in and out of pedestals, so you need to get the right item for the job. Also, each "dungeon" is randomly generated, and broken into three sections. Dungeon levels 1 and 2, and the boss fight. Not only do the levels and stages involve fierce competition (and there IS competition) and teamwork, so do the bosses. I was surprised, as I actually managed to get myself killed in this game multiple times, which is generally a bad thing. Also, the game has multiple locales, allowing you to go from climate to climate, beating down the baddies.

Another unique thing about this game...

Accomplishing certain things in each game, will allow you to do other special things in the other game (each game shares one of the 3 savefile slots). For example, retrieving the Master Sword in Link-Past, will allow you to fire the rotating hit out of your sword in Four Swords. On the same token, getting 10 medals in Four Swords will allow you to use hurricane slash in Link-Past. This pak is definitely worth your money, especially if you have some friends to play with.

The Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past does have a multiplayer game. However, you can only play up to four players (the multiplayer game does not effect the single player game). But, each one of the four players needs a Legend of Zelda game. The four swords (the name of the mutiplayer game) should be out soon. I too think that the Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past is the best zelda game next to the ocarina of time.

The Four Swords is built right into the same cartridge as Link to the Past (from what I've read/seen... I don't own it)

And it's funny that you say that LttP and OoT are your favorites... They're practically the same game...lol

In both games, the first tasks you must perform are gathering three magical objects, one red, one blue, and one green... They're amulets in LttP, and gems in OoT...but they're the same thing, basically...

After doing that, you gain the power to go between the light/dark worlds of the game... In OoT, the light/dark versions are altered to be present/dark future... But it's still the same basic game mechanic...

And then you must complete 6 dungeons and meet 6 powerful people and gain power from them... Then you fight the final temple and Ganon himself...

Aside from the obvious graphical differences, and the adapted storyline and small changes to the basic elements, the two games are the same...lol
