Blink 182 is what brought me into the punk-scene with thier cd Enema of the State. I then moved on to other punk artists such as Good Charlotte. But my question is "Is Blink 182 really pop rock in disguise?" I surely thought that the day this happened all Zeta rip-offs would be deleted from BYOND but I can see from the hub that 8 other zeta games are being hosted right this instance. Back to the point, do you think they are punk, rock, or pop rock?

While I'm not ultra-familiar with the punk genre, I know it when I hear it.

No, Blink 182 isn't even close to punk. They're pop rock. The sound is totally different from anything I know of punk; vocals are one of the key differences.

but it could depend on what age of punk, you mean modern punk like Less then jake, milencolin or nerf herder?
or old school punk like Sex pistols.

Me thinks you are talking about the first, i belive that Blink do have some punk in them, yes it is a small amount. given, but its there in their lryics and their old albums

My understanding of punk is that while it has had some change, it's less than you seem to think. Pink mohawks may be well out of fashion but the music hasn't gone through that much change.

I'm not too familiar with Sex Pistols, but I don't think they actually fall under the category of old school punk. I've heard a little of Less Than Jake and that didn't seem punk to me at all; the others I know nothing about.

Their old albums I couldn't speak for; from what I've heard of them on the radio, however, they're about as punk as George Michael (albeit significantly more popular nowadays).

The Sex Pistols are definitely punk. They were one of the pioneers of the punk movement. Its debatable whether or not Less Than Jake is punk or not, so I won't get into it. Blink-182 is definitely *not* punk.
