I'm 46% gay, which shows the test is 54% broken. Why does it have all those other questions? It asks you right at the beginning what sex you are and what sex you prefer... the rest has nothing to do with anything.

I think my favorite question was #22 (not sure if they're random, but this is what I was asked)...

I'm willing to leave a little room for doubt, however. Still, your insistence that people read the topic of your post falls rather flat when the content is inflammatory. As a guy in what I'd describe as an already precarious position on the forums, for you to make a post that you know is going to offend some people seems a lot like an intentional act to me. I'll grant that a "How gay are you" quiz isn't necessarily that horrible, but the way you presented it didn't help at all. This is all to say: If your intention was just to have fun, fine--but in the future, because of the way you've made rather a mess in recent threads, you should put a lot more thought into what you write, and other people's reactions to it, before you post. Imagine if someone posted a link to a quiz called "How Much Like VyseDyne" you are, and all the questions were based on common misconceptions and prejudices that people have against you. Even if they titled it "Just for fun..." and put in a half-assed disclaimer "If you're VyseDyne, don't read down", wouldn't you think that was obviously an attempt to pick a fight with you?
For the record, the quiz does offend me, but not because I'm offended by the word "gay." I'm offended by misuse of the word gay, which the quiz actually doesn't do. What it does is use stereotypes. Would you post a quiz called "How Black Are You?" with questions like, "How many of your friends are in jail?" and "How often do you eat a big ol' bucket of fried chicken?" and expect people to take it in fun just because you ask them to? Actually, now that I've thought about it, you probably would. I was just going to let it go, just jokingly point out the flaws in the quiz, but you seemed to take exception to that, so here it is, both barrels: yes, the quiz could be construed as offensive, and yes, you knew that when you posted it and even phrased your post to highlight the offensiveness, so yes, you were obviously looking to start a fight. | |
