Well a long time ago I've iconned a tree with Kaiha's help. The problem now is that
I have no clue how to make the leaves, I was hoping someone in art society could help me out or get me started.
Thanks in advance.
Heres the tree

This is the WIP forum, do not post unless you have something constructive to add to help out the person who's posting to improve their art.
Back on topic: The biggest issue with the tree I see is the pillow shading. It makes it bland, and doesn't give it much volume, which is the point of shading objects. I'd suggest picking a light source and trying to put actual shading in. We have a couple of links on this in our resource links! Your line art is very messy, I'd go back and move it out a bit. For example: Your colors could use a bit of work. When I zoomed in to red line those branches, I noticed you used a bunch of colors to try and shade, however they're too close in tint (brightness/darkness) and hue (color) that they blend together too much and don't make much difference. I would try to up the contrast between your shades, the easiest being to darken your shades, and lighten your lights. You can also soften your tree outline a bit in places (once again refer to our resource links page) which will probably solve the rest the problems with the tree. Other than that, it's a pretty good attempt. It looks like a tree. The branches might be a tad thick, but it still works. Of course, then I actually read your post rather than just zeroing on the tree, and noticed you wanted to learn how to draw leaves. Ahaha. I don't really have anything you can read on drawing leaves. I'd suggest (after you work on fixing your tree trunk up a bit), to look at how other people have drawn leaves and try to learn from it. Make and attempt, and then post back here in this topic the results, and we can go from there since we'll actually have something to work with. |
