So here's the deal: I've been working on my first base ever, and hope to add it into a game I'm making (since I haven't found an iconner yet.) However, I've run into a few problems that I need suggestions on. 1) On the first icon it has ears, which seems to make the head rather big. That can be fixed by making the head end at a higher point, but then it becomes cone shaped. 2) So I thought, "Well, maybe if I remove the ears it'll round out the head and look better." And it helped, but the head still looks..wrong. (Reference: Third Picture) 3) The next problem is the side view. The first one I made is the last picture, and I think the head looks good..the problem is, it looks -too- good for the other frames. When he moves left it's almost as if the icon changes. So I cut the nose and ears to try and smooth it out a little bit, like the forward one, and that just makes it look lame. Any suggestions? 4) Finally, I can't seem to figure out how to make the icon walk neatly in the side views. (It's not very pretty in the front views either, but better at least.) Any help on this? |

...Those look pretty familiar.

Ergh. Getting told I'm plagiarizing already? Mmkay. Here we go.
My icon is significantly taller, the pants are longer, the texture on the pants as well as the shape was referenced from the Naruto: WOTS icon, although I attempted to change the shading. The arms were changed to that as well, although I made some modifications to shading and the arm. My ENTIRE color scheme is different, as well as the way I do the eyebrows. The shading on the body is different, the feet are different, the pants have different designs, the pupil is different as well. And that's just the differences I can find. Going on from THAT, if you look at my original icon I can tell you -exactly- the modifications I made: First I increased the size of the ears, allowing me to raise the head without it looking odd, and not having to push out the ears too far. Then I redid the pants, because the spread out look makes it look like he's in preparation. Then I recolored the whole thing, because the original looked -far- too pasty. The eyes are in the -EXACT- same position. (Looks like this is false. I must have lowered them to compensate for the higher forehead) I also redid the muscles a little bit on his body, or attempted to, and fixed quite a bit of the shading. From there I redid the arms, because I showed my friends the arms from before and he said they were too straight. So I attempted a few things: First I tried just bulging them out, and that didn't work, so I curved them, and that didn't work. In the end I ended up smoothing out the shoulder and bringing the arm bulge lower down, as well as smoothing out the connection between the arm and the torso. Edit: o.o Wooahh. I just took the icon you said I copied and overlaid it over mine, to see, and they are REALLY similar. Like, the head size is the same, and the arm bump is in the same place. I'm not sure what to say. The differences still stand, but yeah. Here's a picture of part of my process: Edit: Another note. If you look at the icon you said I copied from, and compare it to the WOTS icon, then you can find the same number of similarities. It's basically the same icon, except the pants and feet were redone, and the ears/forehead were brought down. Also the eyes were modified a tad. However, obviously, it wasn't PLAGIARISM. Or at least I'd like to hope it isn't. Hopefully that makes my point. |

Hmm, well, he's convinced me. I can see the transitions exactly, and although they look similar, it's definitely not plagiarism.

.> Okay, I just overlapped the images of his new edits and like, even the shading is freakishly similar. I had seen the guys icon earlier, so maybe it influenced me a bit much. I certainly didn't copy his icon, but I will attempt to change it further. Hopefully next time I don't run into this. |

Alright, youve proven your point and it seems legit. My bad.

No problem. ^^ But still, any suggestions on how to improve on it? If not then I need to move on to the other frames (god, I hate trying to animate these..xD)

I like what youve done with the shoulders. But the arms and legs need better movement, try lifting the arm coming out when it steps, up alittle. and maybe making the arm that goes back come up alittle more. Im not sure as to how to explain how to fix the legs.

If I move the arms up/down like that it'll ruin the shoulder look. o.o

Any help you guys can offer?
