I'll say it fairly straight-up... what you gain in ease of use and setup, you lose in understandability.
This is not much different; the code uses some of the more advanced features of BYOND, such as associative lists, to build very accurate lists of wares available to someone.
All of it is heavily-commented, but even so, if you don't understand it, don't touch it. The code works out of the box, because I verified that much.
Follow the samples to make your own shopkeepers, but remember my warning.
