TBH, it sucks and I've been depressed AF about it for a month, but the death of a loved one or a pet won't kill my sense of humor.

At least we know, and I can finally get some sleep. I've only been sleeping 3-4 hours a night between walking the traps I put out in the neighborhood trying to get her back.

The feeling of freedom that comes after something like this is such a blissful reward. You did all that you possibly could, now you can sleep easy knowing that fact.

I don't think ter will be sleeping easily :c.
We still have her brother Orion. He's cool AF even if he tried to jump over my head to get out of bed at 7 this morning and hit me in the eye with his knee. Got a bit of a shiner going from him.
When Wild Thing died, she was 20 years old. My kids couldn't remember a time when she wasn't around. It was pretty depressing. She had been our only pet for a really long time.

We're up to six cats and two and a half dogs now and they all have entirely different personalities. Some of them are annoying as hell personalities, but they're different...
two and a half dogs

...You might get that half dog looked at by a dog mechanic.
;) He's not really our dog. He's just sort of a neighborhood dog, although somebody puts a sweater on him once in a while, but he spends about half his time here playing with our puppy. He will spend the night a couple times a week. We aren't real sure who he actually belongs to.
That's actually pretty cool. During the search for Lyra we actually managed to get on friendly terms with a neighborhood trash panda. He comes and visits from time to time because we kept putting food out trying to at least make sure Lyra didn't go hungry outdoors.

I should snap a picture of him. He's gotten pretty comfortable being around me after he wound up in several of our traps 2-3 times. After we caught him the second time we kept him in the cage for a few hours while we administered a few wild animal roundword, tapeworm, and rabies tablets before letting him go. I figure if he's going to be hanging out, he might as well not be rabid.
