So i've been really curious ever since I came back. Why did Byond remove CSS? Everything is so plain and grey now :/.

To look more "professional" is what I remember. Which I can't agree on.

I thought it looked more professional when members could edit their pages, but whatever, I guess I'm just an old hat.

For those who aren't just willing to buy one to support BYOND now they get something in return that is a little worth it. |
Iw as ganna buy one, but when we coudnt edit css I was like... Why by a member then? Most games dont give byond member benefits so... no point really.

The point of being a member is being recognized as a benefactor to BYOND's survival. Without us, Tom and Lummox wouldn't be able to keep working on it. No one really buys a membership to get anything out of it. They do it because it's a nice thing to do. |

That's after they removed blogs right?
It was booming when the blogs were offered as a perk.. |

I kind of enjoyed the CSS editing, to be honest. |
Have to admit, it was fun to make new blog designs, even though I wasn't much of a blogger.

It was a cool perk. I personally believe if Tom wants to make money that he should bring it back. Everyone was furious when youtube took away our freedom to design channels the way we wanted. And BYOND fell into the same boat.
Tom already got one coming way to make cash, I don't know if he'll announce it but he should bring modifying CSS's along with it for tons of profit. Also if it does come back my page will be full of half nude Anime chicks since that's what I like and you guys use what you like. I also think being able to modify your games hub CSS would also be a hit(if you're a member you should be granted this privilege) especially since everyone will be able to make hubs again sooner or later. |
I believe Tom should bring back the ability to customize page CSS and maybe Hubs. That would be amazing.

The blogs weren't beneficial to BYOND. It segmented the community a bit much, honestly. Tom's given some pretty good reasons for removing them. In the end, I think his current monetization approach of trying to keep the site developer-only, and moving the monetization strategy to ad-based revenues is probably for the best.

Well obviously this developer only thing isn't working especially since most of the people on this site only spend half there time on the forums gossiping. So bringing it back will give even those people who don't even use the engine for much and gamer's more power, and Tom more profit. |

Honestly, Murowko has a bit of a point. The developer side of things is great and shouldn't be changed, but most of the developers either hang around the forums which don't have a lot of posts or don't make help topics very often at all, which results in a rather slow community. If the blogs were kept separated from the current forums and were purely a benefit for BYOND Members, it would definitely bring in some extra revenue for Tom and still keep the developer aspect that he has here. |
