Medal Ordering:
People have already requested it, and you attempted to add something for it, but a # drop down (like when ordering favorites) would be far more effective than the current method. Having to click a link (a moving link no less) 10+ times to move a single medal to where you want it isn't the most efficient or fun thing in the world.
Changing Icons:
Why when I click Change icon, do I then have to click browse, and then have to click submit change? That should all be a single step. Click Change icon -> file menu opens -> if I select a file it updates it, otherwise it cancels.
Add a new medal location:
The add a new medal section should preferably appear at the top of the page, and new medals should be added to the top of the list. This would not only prevent you from having to continually scroll down to add new medals, but would show newest medals first by default.
Medal Displays:
On the standings tab for a game with medals, when viewing the detailed info on a medal, it shows you who has earned it (or says nobody has) but doesn't tell you how many people have earned it. This view also doesn't display the description of the medal. There is also no way (that I can see) to tell which medals you don't have. There could also be a total combined count of all medals earned for that game by everyone, though I'm not sure how relevant or really informative that would be.
Medal Categories:
Somebody already suggested this I believe, but being able to group medals together would also be nice. Those gained by PVP, PVE, Accomplishing X Y amount of times, etc.
Bug?
On the hub management page for medals it says "Create badges that can be earned by players in your game for achieving special goals." Shouldn't that "badges" be "medals"? =P
EDIT: Bug 2
When clicking a medal from the Medals Earned list on the Standings tab; it doesn't send you to the top of the page (or top of the medal list), usually leading to you ending up at the bottom of the page. Clicking a medal from the Medals Available section seems to work properly.

I could see opinions differing on that though, so maybe a lot of people want it one way and a lot of people want it the other way. Aesthetically maybe, but what about functionality? Trying to add multiple medals at the same time with the current setup is a pain. And then trying to sort them is an even bigger one. Which brings up another suggestion. Having the option to check-box multiple medals and apply an action to all of them would make pretty much everything easier. Moving multiple ones up/down at the same time, deleting multiple ones, setting the icon on multiple ones to the same thing (though I'm not sure how often that one would happen really). That's already covered by the position value, unless there's more to the request than that. Having different medal categories would allow you to view specific groups of medals. If you're going on a medal earning spree, you could quickly see which ones you can gain by doing what. It could also be possible to have a medal in multiple categories at once, ie: 'Win 10 PVP Battles' could be in a 'Victories' category and a 'Player vs Player' category. |

Sounds like an interesting idea, though I'm still not sure I entirely follow how it would be used or what the UI for it would look like. Since setting up and assigning categories would be a rather complex UI in itself, too, I'd say an idea like this would probably end up on the back burner. Lummox JR |

Since setting up and assigning categories would be a rather complex UI in itself, too, I'd say an idea like this would probably end up on the back burner. As far as the setup UI goes, it could take the place of the Player Scores section on the Scores and Medals Tab. Either giving scores its own tab entirely, or just making a tab selection at the top of the Scores & Medals tab to swap between scores and Medal Categories. It would then function somewhat like adding a medal does. There would be an add new category section, which could have multiple options (based on what I discuss in the next section). Once you add a category, each category would then appear in its own "boxed" section, with a list of medals in that category (just by their name). Each of the medals listed would have a Remove link to the right of it, for removing it from that category. I would recommend having some sort of "All Medals" category by default, so users won't think they need to add one. This category wouldn't display medals, nor would it appear in the categories available to add medals to list, but you could modify settings on it like icon and description. Medals could be added through a drop box type system. The drop box could either appear on the medals, displaying categories; or on the categories, displaying medals; or both. You then select where you want it, hit add, and it will be added. As for sorting, 1 of 3 ways could work. Either they just display in the order you add them, they could retain ordering from the full medal list when added to categories (preferred), or there could be a similar sorting feature to the current one. Displaying Medal Categories on the hub page could work a few different ways. One could be to simply have a list of categories as text links in the Medals Available section. Once you click one of the links, it only displays the medals relating to that category, and somehow notes what category you're currently viewing, possibly just by displaying that category name under the Medals Available text in the same font style. Another possible way would be to allow for categories to be just as customizable as medals, setting a name, description, and icon for all of them. Then Medal Categories would have its own boxed section between the Medals Earned and Medals Available sections, when you click a category it modifies the Medals Available section in a way comparable to what I mentioned above. As far as uses go. This could be put to good use in games with difficulties and/or classes, where each has specific medals. You could have a "General" category for medals that can be earned regardless of how you're playing. Then a "Normal or Harder" category for medals that can only be earned when playing on those difficulties. Or if you have multiple class types, you could have a "Melee" and "Ranged" categories for the medals you can earn with each of those play styles. Or something like "Warrior", "Archer" and "Wizard" if your RPG classes have different medals... etc etc. This way players can see more specifically how they can earn what medals, and more importantly, which ones they can't earn. That way they won't be wasting time trying to get some medal not available to them, and they'll have more motivation to replay your game using those other settings. Some other suggestions: Reset Medals - Instead of having to completely delete a medal, a button to simply reset who has earned it could be useful. Paired with the check-box multi-selection suggestion in my previous post, this could be useful in p-wipe type situations. Medal icon on add medal- How come I can't set the image for a medal before I add it? I have to add it and then add the image for it. |
I could add "Move to top" and "Move to bottom" links I guess. The dropdown approach however was rejected due to the high degree of difficulty in implementing it properly--there's a lot of those dropdown boxes that would have to be altered every time a new medal was added. This is something I might revisit at some point though, because maybe I can find a better way to handle all this in the AJAX code.
It might be possible to override the field that handles this so it executes an action on selection of a file. That's something I can look into.
Aesthetically I disagree. I could see opinions differing on that though, so maybe a lot of people want it one way and a lot of people want it the other way.
I do think with the paginated display there it would be a benefit to see how many total entries are involved. I also agree it'd be nice to be able to see at a glance which medals you haven't earned yet.
That's already covered by the position value, unless there's more to the request than that.
Not necessarily, no. A medal is a badge; same difference. I think in that particular place it makes sense as-is because the point is to explain to authors in brief what the medal system is all about.
This isn't so much a bug as a lack of a feature, namely that you'd like an anchor for when users click one of the AJAX links here. I agree that would be helpful, though the one downside is it can scroll the page down as well as up.
