Anybody know of any 100% free (no credit card authentication) 3D MMORPGs that I could play?
I'm talking WoW, and RuneScape huge!
When I mean 100% free, I mean absolutely free! No paid membership or free trial crap!
No WURM, no RuneScape, nothing like that. I was MASSIVE, and decent GFX.
And I want other players to be on at all times.

You're asking for a lot for free...
The closest I know of is a free MMORPG called PlaneShift. It's open-source and very much in the development stages, so it might not be the same level of quality that you experience with WoW, but it's still entertaining and there's a lot to do already. If you aren't averse to a one-time payment, I highly suggest Guild Wars. You have to pay for it in the store, but after that you can play as much as you like, as it is with Diablo II. Speaking of which, if you liked Diablo II, check out Hellgate: London, which is also a play-once, play as much as you like model. Good luck finding what you're looking for! http://www.planeshift.it/ http://www.hellgatelondon.com/ http://www.guildwars.com/ |
And I want a pony.
Except, you see, I don't expect to get a goddamn pony. Because I'm not insane. |
There are a few, but I am unhappy with them, because of the fact they are all going to the "buy your way into power" kind of deal.
Lets face it, free MMOs are not free to everyone. Someone, somewhere, has to pay for development costs and server fees. I simply refuse to support the MMOs that allow players to buy in game items at insane prices. Simply because I feel it gives those places a unfair advantage and greatly unbalances the game. |

The PlaneShift game looks quite neat. I'm going to give it a try, thanks.

ShadowBane (Google it, I'm typing this as I'm leaving the house). Was free the last I checked. It used to be a pay-to-play MMORPG, but it got freebie'd a couple years ago. It's not a bad game, I played it often when I had broadband.

ijji.com games are only free if you want to get the snot kicked out of you by paying members who buy in game stuff with real world money. Which is a terrible idea.

Zero 3000 is a Mecha-based 3-D MMORPG. It isn't that bad.

The International edition of GunZ is better anyways, people can't buy their way into the game.

You propobly won't find a game, where you don't have to pay for something. Runescape: extra features, GunZ: extra stuff, WoW: pay to play!, warpfire.com: want extra money? go buy!
Most totally free games will be crappy so.. It's no use.. mob/verb/FreeGame100Percent() |

Guild wars is alright, so long as you don't mind LOTS of farming, and paying for every expansion, and the game getting progressively more unbalanced with every expansion.

Yeah, I was going to suggest Shadowbane. It has huge guild wars and even sports siege weapons.
If I didn't play WoW with friends, I would play SB since it's free. ~Kujila |

But other than that you can play for free until your heart drops
